We were linked quite heavily back in 2023, weren't we?

Are you saying you've seen something linking us now, or that you just think he could be a target?

Profile wise, he would tick a lot of boxes - I quite like the player.

Problem being he is a DP in the Nashville squad, which means he is outside their salary structure, and is reportedly earning around $55k a week.

We can't compete with them numbers.

Wouldn't say 40k a week is unachievable, but you'd want a guaranteed starter for that money.

Quite. The OP hasn’t thought this through. A rookie error

Surridge was on loan at Swansea during COVID times. He was like a really crap Hirsty with even less of a goal threat. Hopefully he’s improved lots since then if there’s any truth we might be back in for him (I’m sure he has; he was a kid back then and in KM we trust).

Seriously why? In the market and what's available there can't be many better fitting profiles. Mobile, strong, good pedigree and scores goals. 27 and at his peak.

He's a good player. Would lead the line well

I’ve had 6 months to prepare myself since my OP.

The box:

Looks like he was scoring for fun last MLS season, 30 goals from 40 games, so reaching his peak, hopefully it was his ‘Murphy’ season.

MLS season starts on 21st Feb so should currently be building up to match fitness , so not 100% ready.

All players can improve with good coaching.

I must admit When I stood at Carrow Road and saw Kieffer Moore come on all them years ago, he was one of the worst players I had ever seen in a blues shirt. He pretty much summed up a typical McCarthy bargain basement signing. However he left us and then became a quality international striker.

On the list but I didn't get the impression he was particularly high on it at present, although may have been earlier in the window. He might well have something lined up, I know Wolves have been linked.

There is a better chance of Ipswich being in the Premier League than Wolves next season. Surely that comes into the player’s thinking?

You might well be right, just speculating. Having said that, if he joins Wolves and scores eight/10 goals, then another Premier League club might well pick him up in the summer.

I always find this an interesting take and I guess each player will have their own views, plus not to mention the prem wages now vs potential prem wages the following season being probably the biggest factor

But for some I guess a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. E.g. a guaranteed half a season in the prem now and the opportunity to impress and potentially get another prem move at the end of it, is better than a potential promotion and full season in the prem

If the list is alphabetical then he probably is a little way down it. Certainly behind Piroe.

Is that why we signed Akpom and Azon? You'd think we'd have widened our horizons a bit by now!

You may joke, but when we were looking for two keepers on deadline day in January 2008 the reason we got Stephen Bywater and Nick Colgan was that they were towards the front of Malcolm Webster's contact book.
