KM and team quietly making progress. We were always going to finish top 6 but I'm now very optimistic about top two. I think we will win the league.
But do we deserve to go up again? When KM came in our support deserved every moment after years of misery and after backing the team through thick and thin. A few idiots aside (Bristol Rovers away etc) the support was excellent and it was always about enjoying the team's success.
But ever since the success came back that's gone in many ways. A lot of 'fans' now who seen to see Town as a 'plaything' - something to discard at the first moment it's not doing what you want it to do. A lot of individualism where 'support' is all about me having a good time and generally behaving like a berk and not really about the team's success at all. The kind of supporter who spends all the game more interested in the opposition fans and posturing and doesn't watch the game at all. Or who loves giving it large on social media when everything is great but really it's still all about them and not the team. Dare I say it the kind who says 'the tifo spoilt my view for 30 seconds'.
The treatment of the team and some players this season along with the entitlement has been horrible to see. Same mob who wrote off Philogene and Clarke unable to see the irony of their disgraceful treatment of MacAteer.
As Sitters said, it was poor to see thousands flocking for the exit yesterday ahead of the end. I know some people have to get off and can't help it but the majority of that was the 'i want to get home and not be delayed' crowd. Individualism again. Staying to clap the players and staff after winning 3-1 at home before Xmas isn't asking much is it.
And it's becoming farcical in games when we go berserk over playing out from the back. The ENTIRE KM period of success has been built on this!!!!!!!! It's brave football. Same crowd then gets excited when surprise surprise we break their press doing it and find the spare man. Grown men where I sit who turned up once the team started doing well screaming at Walton is so bloody annoying.

Fans don’t deserve to go up for posting anything negative on a forum board discussing football?
The reality is, McKenna has worked an absolute miracle to have this group on the brink of promotion, but you do have to be utterly delusional to think we’ve been sensational this time around, or more importantly if we are anywhere near the level needed to compete in the PL.
Can go back to my old posts as well if you wish, I’ve said long enough this rebuild already needs a major refurbishment, even more so heading into the PL.

I do carry weight on performance levels, I don’t think a football fan should be apologetic for wanting to be entertained and engaged with its club.
Kieran McKenna is a genius, because I don’t think this group is that good, but I’ve been saying for a long time, right or wrong, but I’m usually right, this squad needs a major overhaul.

Football isn't a video game or big budget Hollywood movie.
Each season is distinct and separate. This was always going to be a very challenging season for a large number of reasons.
We've played some excellent football including brilliant wins over that lot. We've kept going. We're playing different style and also playing teams who react differently to us.
You're wrong about major overhaul. We have a spine and many more players ready for step up. We go up in a better position than last time.

We've played some excellent football including brilliant wins over that lot. We've kept going. We're playing different style and also playing teams who react differently to us.

Who in this team, beyond O’Shea, Matusiwa and Davis is capable of making the jump to the PL, considering they aren’t better than the team that was promoted last time and that was dismantled.
I’ve been Barnsley, Burnley, Burton and Fleetwood, Bristol to Birmingham to Hull and Blackpool, I’ve travelled the country supporting this football club for decades, I’ve been mascot, season ticket holder, singer and sulker, but I’ve also been and always will be a supporter, who the hell are you to tell me if my support is good enough. I agree with you much of the time on here, but not on this apart, from your comment re abuse of individual players being unacceptable.
Your header was "some of" our fans, but later in your OP you morphed that into "a lot of". An unfair generalisation I think, going by the ratio of posts on this forum.
Sorry, but it's really quite arrogant to tell other supporters how they should feel & react to the squad's progress (or lack of it). Those attending have paid out serious dosh to be there, it's their money that's partly paying players' wages, and you have no idea of the backstory behind them being there at all - whether financial, family, work, health etc.
Even those of us unable to go help via merchandise & packages for commentaries, news, replays etc. - not to mention emotional, mental & time investestment. |  |
