My thoughts on him based on very little knowledge is that his final ball is good, he can score bangers, but also that he is extremely one footed for a central midfielder and a bit slow. Good and bad.

The fact he's had such a long career in the Premier League is a big tick in the box.

"I can't really see myself wearing any other kit," Cairney told Sky Sports. "If I picture myself in another kit it just feels weird.

"It's football, things chop and change all the time. I want to play after this season. My contract is up. We'll have to see what Fulham offer.

"I wouldn't say talks are underway."

Not happening before the summer if at all. I guess we've moved on.

Could look at it both ways

He doesn't have a particularly good memory if he cant remember wearing a Blackburn or Hull shirt - that bit was for the Fulham fans

Talks underway with whom? Suggests he is not getting what he wants from Fulham

Its not dead yet would be my reading of that

im not saying its likely, but if fulham decide not to keep him after the summer, if they had the chance to get a fee now or nothing in the summer and he wont play much now things might chance, i dont know bar the sound bites which never tell you whats going on, we shall see but we will have other options

Spoke to a work colleague and season ticket holder at Craven Cottage.

He’s the club captain, very well respected and rated at the club. Can score good goals and leads. Thought he would be a brilliant addition to Town.

The caveats being that he is very one footed, left, and he’s neither a holding midfielder or a box to box attacking midfielder. Wouldn’t bring pace.

I think Taylor has been good this season, and when he’s played well and driven us, Town have been much much improved. BUT he is liable to a poorer more anonymous display. I don’t think Cajuste has done enough for me, sensational moments, but just not effective enough, for such a player.

In short Cairney is not going to provide cover for Matusiwa (I wonder if Taylor can do that) - but he’s really improve us. Morsy leadership.

Poll: What music should be played just before kick-off?

Have to say I've always been struck by his one footedness every time I've seen him (which is admittedly very rarely and not for a good few years) and it's always made me wonder how he can be effective in central midfield with only one foot.

Then again I suppose Paul Scholes was pretty reliant on his right and he did just fine.
