| Should ITFC leave x? 19:07 - Jan 14 with 3687 views | Alberto_the_frog | Not just because of the recent grok AI malarkey, but because the owner has such disrespect for democratic governments that he refuses to make his hate filled platform a safe place for the users. It could easily be claimed that using it generates reputational damage. Football clubs in general still seem keen to use it and that is all I use it for - e.g. team news. Perhaps there should be a mass transfer of clubs to an alternative medium. I haven't done this as a poll as I am more interested in seeing a discussion than just a count of yesses and noes. | |

| Should ITFC leave x? on 23:14 - Jan 14 with 832 views | PioneerBlue | I didn't realise Twitter/X existed after about 2020, the 10-15 years before that it was ok. I thought it broke and everyone left to join other means of connecting with real people like big whatsapp or telegram groups rather than communicate with bots and tweet factory apprentices. | |

| Should ITFC leave x? on 20:28 - Jan 14 by J2BLUE | The club will serve the fans. It's easy to say they should leave X (has ANY club in the top 4 leagues in England left?). It's harder to say I won't use X and you will find me on Bluesky. If enough fans do that then they will go to Bluesky as well. While you all sit on X having the best of both worlds by engaging on there AND complaining about it they will continue to serve you on X. Be the change you want to see... |
Agree J2! Havent caught up on the rest of this thread....but the only reason Im keeping my twitter profile is for ITFC notifications. Dont engage with that cesspit at all. I do have a Bluesky account so maybe I should start engaging more on there...

| I've got a BlueSky account.... on 22:38 - Jan 14 by Bloots | ....but whenever I go on there it just seems to be people posting stuff from Twitter and moaning about it. Inevitably the more users BS gets the more of a cess pit it will become anyway. |
"Inevitably the more users BS gets the more of a cess pit it will become anyway." Possibly, but at least it won't have an algorithm pumping out far right accounts and racism and CSAM. Although one of the otherissues with Bluesky is that a lot of Americans on it struggle with the concept of jokes. ITFC should definitely have an active Bluesky account by now, not sure how much that would help with the dearth of football content on there.

| I’ve left, feels good. Musk is appalling and a bad actor towards the UK on 09:53 - Jan 15 with 591 views | unstableblue | But more importantly X is just such a toxic space full of people hurling abuse at each and wildly polarised views. Its algorithms mess people and society up. Am not using Bluesky - although I’m more left of centre, feel that will be just another echo chamber. | |

Are you saying they’re all taken down if they have a particular viewpoint though? There are loads of journalists from left wing publications, center left figures and quite far left accounts posting loads of the stuff you describe. Elder Grizzly and co link them here all the time lol. The idea that it’s some stain of ITFC because of personal opinion of a platform is pretty ludicrous really and won’t be shared by the entire fanbase. Every club is on there and it will remain so when they have hundreds of thousands or millions of followers. It’s a personal choice so if people want they can just delete. Plenty of other options of to where to get your ITFC news from socials or independent sites.

I'm not really commenting in an ITFC presence as I say I use it myself at least for now. It was more a comment on Musk and others who love X (Farage, Robinson, Hopkins, etc) who declare free speech for all but equally froth at the thought of shutting the BBC down. Wasn't very clear i admit

I know I'm not a football club, but when I decided to leave X I had 20,000 followers that I lost. They were of huge value to me for professional, cultural and social reasons but it was (over a year ago) a cesspit of homophobia, racism, bots, trolls and fascist enabling loons. It's much worse now. Some things are more important than follower numbers or the perceived benefit of them, and any organisation that claims to be about community and doing good should realise it. I think it's embarrassing they are still on there. [Post edited 17 Jan 9:35]

What a saint. Why on earth would the obscenely wealthy man who craves the adoration of a very powerful man who is very interested in oil, support an uprising in a country that may have a lot of it? It's beyond me. How supportive of the protests in Minnesota is he? [Post edited 17 Jan 10:07]

| Should ITFC leave x? on 09:46 - Jan 17 with 116 views | thebooks | Yes. I know this would never happen, but just release news and whatever on the Town website. Subscribe with an RSS feed. It’s the one place you don’t have to worry about the owners going full-on Nazi, or the platform degenerating, or whatever. I guess they could set up their own Fedi server, but that’s somewhat unlikely Whatever they post would be shared on social media anyway. | | | |
