So clever with it. Literally pushed Ohashi in the back for a potential penalty and now elbows the c*** Cantwell straight in the nosher. He always seems to get away with it!
If we go up, he'll be fked with VAR

Circa 19:20 on this Blackburn vlog. Stonewall pen. They should be rightly aggrieved.
Wow. I was watching on TV and on all the replays it was kind of just outside the camera view so it was hard to see, but this is a shocker. How does the Lino not see this!? Still not sure if it's inside or outside of the box but it's not a 'clever' nudge, it's an all out, two-handed push. Ridiculous!

It was plain as day on the coverage at the time.
And didnt look offside as some have said. Should have been a red card too.
From the refs view though, he is not looking in the middle of the box because the ball is wide. Hard to spot that one.

It's outside the box that the foul is committed so it's a stonewall free kick and probably a red card. It looks tight for offside though. (If you pause the blog at 19.18 you see the point of contact)

Not even close for offside. And arguably the contact continues into the box.
Certainly a red.
I can see some debate about the pen, givne where the line is.

He is 'offside' but only because he's been pushed and the push is before the ball is played. But the push happens outside of the box, so it's red and a free kick for me.
But then is it a red given just because we think he was in a great position but the ball had not actually been played to him at that point? Maybe it's a yellow?
Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

I suspect the ref was thinking that no one is going to be able to shove Ohashi , being the speedster that he is, flying into the box like that, so me must have dived.

Yes it's outside box. Would VAR go to that as a possible red card check? Thought that was normally just for bad foul. Interesting one. Should be a Red Card and a freekick. Furlong is really lucky there.

I can't seem to find any video of either incident. No idea on either of them live.
I was also looking for video of the “elbow”. In real time (on tv) I thought Furlong had just blocked him off. After viewing the replay I can see he blocked him off with arms raised. Whether there was intent to catch Cantwell in the face is down to individual interpretation, only Furlong knows Fursure. Their players seemed to be rather keen to get stuck in and it would be harsh if one of ours was punished retrospectively.
Regarding the penalty, Azon was definitely fouled. I’ve seen many a shove go unpunished, and a shove outside the box can’t be a penalty if VAR is available.

Blackburn were not shy in muscling in on people or use of the dark arts. They just weren't very good at it. Four bookings.
Was Furlong a bit fortunate? Well possibly, but in a season it’ll even itself out. It’s meant to be a man’s game anyway. If their manager wants to bleat on about decisions and not finishing a game early etc, bully for him. Maybe he should look to his, his team’s and his club’s inadequacies first.
Did our keeper have a shot to save? No. Were Blackburn lucky not to concede five? Yes.
Back to Furlong, overall he impresses me. He’s a big reason why our defence is looking so solid. With McKennas set up and Davis bombing on the other side, that right back position has always been a problem. Even Tuanzebe got lost now and again. Furlong’s positioning, athleticism and combativeness has got better and better. If the opposition don’t like him much? Good, he must be doing something right.
I’m not sure his crossing/final ball is the best and he does misplace passes at times, but overall, he’s not only doing ok, but is actually improving.

He also rolled the “spare” ball on the pitch towards their corner taker a couple of times, for no other reason than to pass them off a bit and take up a little time. Plus he went down with an “injury” when we were down to 10 waiting to get Clarke on, to kill a bit of time. As my son frequently says about him, he’s a shi1thouse, but he’s our shi1thouse! I like him. Think he’s been an underrated performer for us this season.
