I don't think any regular ticket for a league match in England should cost that much, certainly not in the second division. Premium/corporate seats and major fixtures such as cup finals are different, but you could watch a newly released film or go to an exhibition for a fair bit less than the cost of a standard seat to watch 90 to 100 minutes of football.

'twas ever thus. football was always more expensive than a cinema ticket at least since the 1990s. both have increased, by roughly the same proportion

True story.

Hornby are now charging £400 for a steam engine that produces smoke,in the 1960’s they did the same sort of thing for three and six pence.

I'm sure that I used to pay £35 on the NSL turnstile during the McCarthy era.

£35 was a lot of money to watch Jonathan Douglas standing around looking gormless for 90 mins. Looking back, they should have paid me to watch some of the dross under Evans tenure and Duncan’s miseryfest before that.

On a serious note, the cost of everything is expensive these days and in relative terms I don’t think ITFC ticket costs are out of kilter. I’m seeing an old work buddy this week for a bit of pasta and a few beers for lunch and I doubt I’ll see any change from £50 or £60.

For ancients like me, season tickets are anctually absurdly cheap in my view, especially if one gets a bit of £ back with resale.

Re away supporters, if the home fans are charged £38, then away ones should be charged the same.

I wonder whether pricing structures should be uniform throughout the leagues. There seems a wide disparity between what is charged and I know places like Fulham’s hovel is extortionate let alone Tottenham.

I do think cost of food and drink is absurdly high. Personally I rarely bother with it, but I think the club could and should do better with that and on quality too. I noticed somebody tackling a ‘pie’ on Saturday and the contents under the flaccid crust looked like they’d been squeezed out of the cat.

All this bluster I keep seeing about expensive tickets for away fans is nonsense. It's how much the average ticket in Portman Road costs. They get the same product as me in the home section. It isn't up to me or the club to subsidise their travel and food. Yes, being an away fan is expensive... so are plenty of other hobbies and no one is queueing to give people cheaper green fees or Lego sets.

Tell me you don't buy single game tickets without telling me you don't buy single game tickets...................

Because that's the price for our fans. I know its a lot!

Why not? Is that an official EPL rule, a club rule or a made up rule?

I've had a couple of chicken balti pies in the West Stand recently and they've been really nice.

But yes, the price of food and drink in the ground is pretty extortionate. My friend bought a couple of 500ml bottles of lager (Carlsberg, I think) at the Watford game in November and I believe it cost £14 for the pair.

I'm told the Tingly Ted pies are good. I'll never know though because I dont buy anything at the ground anymore due to the cost, queues etc etc 🤣

And yeah 38quid its we charge our fans, so why should it be cheaper. It will be £40 next season whatever league we are in

Still pricey, mind. But not totally out of step with many "trendy bars" in town (which are more sh1t than trendy).

"£35 was a lot of money to watch Jonathan Douglas standing around looking gormless for 90 mins."

Literal lollers :)
