Would it be fair to say that there are as many, if not more, Ipswich fans in Colchester as there are Col U supporters?

Possibly in years gone by. I suspect you'll find a lot more West Ham, Arsenal, Spurs, Chelsea types than Town these days.

Clacton and Harwich on the coast and places like Witham further inland had a few more. I can remember several coaches running from these places back in the day.

Don't know the answer to that but I do know that a lot of Colchester fans hate us, albeit that we have quite a few ties these days. Colchester have always been my second team and I know in the old days loads of Ipswich fans used to watch col utd when Ipswich played an away match. I was at the Grimsby game last night.

I think things really turned nasty when we stole George burley from them to become our manager.

I actually quite like Colchester as a town nowadays. Truthfully I see more Liverpool shirts than anyone else though.

Hard to know how to measure it. I’d guess more people from Colchester proper have season tickets at Colchester than at P Road, but it might be close. On the other hand, let’s say both clubs got to play offs at Wembley, there would be a LOT more excitement in Colchester about the L2 playoffs than Town’s .
