| Those saying that it doesn’t matter we went out like that 23:48 - Feb 13 with 3985 views | BlueStreak | Are deluded. Two of our three biggest club achievements (ever) were in knock out competitions. That was pathetic and disrespectful to our 1978 and 1981 teams. Focus on the league?! For what? Finish 19th and get battered each week? I can’t believe the whole see next week is being accepted. This shows how weak our mentality continues to be. We should be ten points clear at the top, we aren’t. Bromley in the cup, out. Tonight, out. It’s pathetic. | | | | |

| Those saying that it doesn’t matter we went out like that on 14:09 - Feb 14 by BlueStreak | Promotion to the PL where our only aim is to finish 17th and hope not to get slapped every week, wow what a prospect. Guess what we won’t give a toss about the cups then because we are prioritising trying to stay in the league, great. So we are really only ever entering one competition that we want to do well in but have zero % chance of winning. Fantastic. We just have different ideas of priorities. As a fan of Ipswich I want us to try our hardest in the league and the FA cup, as both are very important in my eyes. That’s it. |
You still haven't got the point. Getting into the Prem brings riches that you can invest in better players with (even if you go back down). The plan is to do that until you can establish in the prem ...and also have a better tilt at the cups, because overall you end up with a better team. That's how modern football works.

As well as players, facilities such as a better training ground, much more modern stands can be built. As you say, that’s how modern football works.

Are you a typical entitled fan who has looked at our missed opportunities, but ignored others teams like Cov, Boro etc who have also missed opportunities.

I absolutely get that point, doesn’t mean I have to agree with it though and want us to go about it a different way.

It's the only realistic way unless you never want to see us win anything and you've been pretty clear you would love to see us win a cup. So your position doesn't seem very internally consistent unless you can explain to me where I've gone wrong. SB

I do agree with you in that sense. For me it’s not necessarily even about potentially winning the FAC. On Valentines Day, it seems pretty sad that a Gradgrind mentality and staking everything on events in future that might *also* (lord forbid!) never happen, ie getting to, winning more than a third of, & staying up in the EPL, is the predominant mindset. Football isn’t all about grinding it out until some hypothetical happening in maybe 5 or 10 years time. It’s also about excitement, romance, magic moments and days, Burnley 1 - 2 Mansfield Town. Long live romance!
