Awaiting Kieran, no player, they've got the day off, perhaps fortuitously.

Not sure its scripted, just McKenna staying in his lane which is perfectly reasonable of him.

He's employed to focus on football, not sort out Ashton's shit for him.

Maybe, maybe not.

Def will have been guided by Ashton in my opinion.

Happy to agree to differ.

Concerns re fanbase being split? Hard for me to comment on. Ask me re staff and players, everyone is together, challenge but a big opportunity. On supporters, it's not for me to say. My focus is to put team out there, two we have coming up are fantastic games, the type we want to be involved in. To bring the supporters behind us, we can do that via performances and results, and confident we can do that.

Not everyone back yet. Tried to use the opportunity well. Match minutes, training minutes last week. Players coming back not quite so quick for some of them, touch and go for Monday, so will see how it goes.

Disappointed for Irish lads not to qualify, Anis, Elkan and George got caps. Able to give the players the day off today, so we can all regroup on Friday and have three days to prepare for Monday.

Touch and go on Nunez and Burns, a few in that position. For Monday make right decisions.

Kieran is the straightest of straight bats. He will be unflustered but give nothing away. His admirably level-headed attitude to life makes it easy for him to keeping playing and leaving all day long. He's happy to bore the questioners into submission.

I don't blame him for taking this approach, as regards his own position. What's been said behind the scenes, we can't know, but I'm sure he's been suitably candid when out of the public eye.

Yes, hopefully behind the scenes he will have told Ashton what a naive, duplicitous, incompetent tw4t he has been.

Giving his actual opinion on it wouldn’t do anyone any favours I feel

Not worth it because it would just create a divide again with discussion on either side kicking off again.

Yeah and nor should he really.

Play it with a straight bat and focus on what he's paid to do. I'd do exactly the same.

Birmingham will still have play-off hopes. Expected them to be really strong, have been some ups and downs. At their best, a match for anyone in the division. Tough game, like to press play with energy. Will watch them on Friday ahead of Monday.

Every game important when eight left but know that likely there will be ups and downs along the way. I think the last block of league games, we lost at Wrexham but then went on a good run. Know that all games are important and this the first one.

Will watch some Friday games, not all as we're out on the training field.

Jack Taylor training, wife having been ill. Ashley Young has trained, not going to say too much else. Is a case of who will train tomorrow. Will have a strong team and bench. Coming to the end of some injuries and unfortunate situations.

Not too frustrated that Friday game off, nothing can do about it. On the plus side, internationals will be back a couple of days and players out injured might make of for Monday when they wouldn't Friday.

Three-way fight? Don't discount others. By Friday we'll be two games behind, need to win a fair few of those. Going to have to perform well. Still tight, a few teams will be out to do something special in the last month.

It gives confidence that all is good with the team - which was not necessarily going to be the case with all the noise surrounding the club right now. A settling influence in the camp.

Better place than we were when we played at Birmingham. Was always going to be a tough game for anyone going there on opening day, lot of noise and energy after promotion. Not sure this game will have much bearing.

Haha I would love it if those were his exact words. I think he has many times more self control and calculation than most of us, so I wouldn't be too sure he's gone that far.

But yes, I echo your sentiments, and I hope Kieran got as close as possible to that!

Message to fans going to the game? Supporters have been brilliant, when come to the club passion hits you straight away. No one needs a rallying call from me, supporters know how important they are to us. Club has brilliant future going forward in the medium and long-term and got chances now to achieve something which has been done once in the last 25 years. I know they know that. Atmos against Millwall was outstanding and know we need to take another step this weekend.

Stuart Watson and Mark Heath gave it the biggun about questioning McKenna and then didn’t bother asking anything.

Appreciate that Graeme Mac asked a few about it but thought the EADT boys may have asked a couple more, particularly maybe about Ashton.

Think Km has probably told Ashton that it was a very silly thing to do.

I think by the time it got to Stuart Watson the questions had already been asked.

Yes all very weak lemon drink.

Phil was the only one seriously probing to get anything. Asking Kieran whether he has expressed his own views I thought was an essential question given the strength of feeling among fans.

And given that player harmony is squarely within Kieran's remit, proper probing on the players' reactions to it was also essential. Glad that Phil didn't let the earlier question on that suffice. That was the one that did get a little hint back to us, namely when Kieran said that he isn't here to represent all the players' views, which is about as clear a message that we were going to get that (a) the players have views, (b) some of them may well be strongly held, and (c) Kieran is well aware what they are.

Kieran was never going to give much up, but it's important that he and Ashton know that it's not forgiven and forgotten yet (not that Kieran has done anything wrong, I hasten to add).
