During the game, I noticed the seats in front of me had political stickers on them, presumably put there by the people whose seats they were, two men I would put in their late 20s.
One said "On the blow with Rupert Lowe" with a Cross of St George and the Ipswich badge
The other said "More Palmer Less Starmer" with the Union Jack, a photo of our goalkeeper and of Starmer and the Ipswich badge.
What's this all about, and is this a widespread thing among our fanbase, because if it is, it is rather disappointing that our club is being politicised by our own fans?
Having said that, Ashton has politicised our club, so maybe he has given free rein to this sort of thing.
I am also aware that others have mentioned anti-Stamer chants at games, although I haven't heard them.

Our fan base is a cross section of the community and therefore contains more than a few idiots. Blaming Ashton is a reach as these things have been around before the Farage incident.

He’s essentially given them a green light and emboldened these scum though, but regardless of that he’s lied to us and taken us for mugs.
The sad thing is, these aren’t even original either they’re rip offs from other clubs. Which is about the mark of these arseholes. They couldn’t think of something themselves if you gave them decades to do it.

Leaving Ashton aside, do you think it's a good thing for football to be politicised?

There will always be different political views within the fanbase and some who will want to share their political views through their support of the club. Presumably one of them involves the stickers is wanting to publicise their drug use too.
It is all part and parcel of that group of political views wanting to take ownership of the English flag too.
The issue with Ashton is that he has done this officially as the club and the club has done nothing to stop him. Yes, it will have emboldened those with that political viewpoint (although it was Farage rather than the even more extreme Lowe that Ashton promoted). But I think those sort of stickers will always have been in evidence. Perhaps you might find similar ones showing support for Conservatives, Labour, Greens, LibDems, Corbyn, the Socialist Worker, or Communism.
There is also clearly an "Ashton in" movement on here who are based around his political views with at least two posters very clearly supporting him for that reason.

Ashton out!

Very odd. After Brum at home there was a group of early 20s lads heading to the Black Horse who were briefly singing about Farage, along with the Justin Fashanu song. All I can think is silly boys being edgy. The "On the blow with Rupert Lowe" sticker feels like that. I don't think any serious political thinkers think Rupert Lowe is the answer to anything.
I guess if you don't have much and/or your prospects don't look great, you blame whoever's in power regardless of any nuance or context. It's happened in various guises since the beginning of time. So yeah, a mix of discontent, desperation to be edgy, and being young and stupid.

People who have enough money to get enough points to go to the Norwich game aren't necessarily poor.
But it is true that Farage has apparently been successful in appealing to a relatively large proportion of younger white males, with the use of things like Tik Tok. And Reform FC, with its Farage No.10 football shirts, is clearly an attempt to appeal to football fans.
In some ways, it ia muted return to the sort of racism that blighted football in in the 70s and 80s but the sad thing for me, as someone who frequented the North Stand in those days, is that the club's fans in those days weren't like that, maybe in part because we had a number of black fans.

Took one sticker down in the concourse that said 'on the charge with farage'
Ashton out
The interesting thing is that Ashton's recent actions probably make it very difficult, if not impossible, for the club to call this sort of thing out when it really ought to be doing so, if it really believes in its philosophy of diversity and inclusion, a core aspect of the Kick it Out campaign.
Indeed, he seems to have got himself into a position where he can't put his head above the parapet, a very sorry state of affair.
As often there is a song for this, but it probably means there would be no point in my e-mailing the club to get them to tell fans not to politicise the club.

I’m a little surprised that people are surprised by any of this. Taking out the Ashton stuff, Reform and other right wing parties currently sit at around 26% in voting intention.
Of the 2000 odd in the away end it’s a fair assumption that 500 odd support or intend to vote for a far right party.
It’s not my particular poison but I think we need to be honest about the level of support for these parties, who ride on the back of ineffective government.

But there weren't Tory chants or stickers under Thatcher or Labour ones under Blair, and they were a damn sight more popular.
The shame for me is that Reform and Restore don't believe in diversity and inclusion, something that football and Ipswich are supposed to, so we ought to call it out, but that ain't going to happen under Ashton given the mess he has got himself into.
It's also worth pointing out that the Kick it Out message appears non-existent at Ipswich,in contrast to the case at many Premier League grounds last season.

Quite we have a battle anyway to ensure they’re not welcome as it is. Fashton has done nothing but the opposite and cowardly little stickers and bantz is nothing in the scheme of things.
I know it’s the Derby but a shame that when people ran out of ideas they went back to Delia songs too. Time we retired those for me, all a bit old hat and makes us look as bad as them.

Agree. There's something not quite right in calling an 80+ year old woman a wh@re. It's a shame, as the line about blue and white and dynamite is quite rousing. The ending is terrible. And the potato chant is just purile too. There are plenty of other good chants to get behind, though I've never understood why we have to sing them all so fast!
"I don't want to be like everyone else. That's why I'm a mod, see?"

I posted about this in a previous thread about the 20 or so lads singing this in the NSL during the Brum game. This will only grow. As has been mentioned in this thread, I don't really recall any political chants in my many years of attending PR. The link back to the Farage visit is obvious. Nice one Mark.........

I remember your post.
The irony is that the apologists for this sort of behaviour would be the first to be up in arms if people were singing, say, pro-Starmer chants or producing pro-Starmer stickers, or the club enabled, say, the Labour party to use the club for party political propaganda purposes.

Something "not quite right" in calling an 80 year old woman a w***e?
Why not just call it out for the disgusting behaviour it is.

These stickers are as much as they can manage to read in one sitting. Bless'em. They have to leave their own sticker books at home when they're allowed out to a match.

"fair assumption", sorry, nope - turnouts are usually low so I would reduce that to 40%, say, or 200 ... the other 300 being of the "not bothered" persuasion.
Knob head stickers for sure! However, best to not conflate with Ashton also being a knob head - especially as some of them pre-date him inviting a quasi fascist to lunch and lying about it.
