Is that the bit they call the snake pit then? I've been there half a dozen times but I've never really got to grips with the layout of the place, it all seems a bit small and ramshackle and haphazard to me. Might be because I'm usually pissed when I'm there.
I can remember climbing up some steps up a grassy bank to get to the stand, but that was probably in the 90s and long gone, I assume. Every time I see a televised game there, it makes me chuckle to be able to see the bungalows behind the side stand opposite where the cameras are. Funny old place, funny old fans. |  |

In 1959 I went to their third round match against Man U and I believe that was over 40,000. I was thirteen at the time. They still have open top buses to celebrate. | | | |

I was in Portman Rd for the record attendance against Leeds, and also the second leg of the Texaco Cup final at Carrow Rd a year or two earlier. Both had similar attendances (38,000) and from my memory I'd say Portman Rd was the tightest packed. | | | |
