Predicted points from the final 6 games 14:56 - Apr 13 with 2759 viewsBouncebackIpswich

Sorry know this has been done to death but would appreciate everyone's honest predictions

For me -

Portsmouth A - 3 pts (can't decide between draw and win here, could go either way)
Middlesbrough H - 1 pt (sounds pessimistic but I think they'll be glad to have a game where the onus isn't on them as heavy favourites and we'll have played midweek)
Charlton A - 3 pts (has to be, surely. They've lose their last 5 at home. Plus revenge for the 3-0 at PR)
West Brom A - 0 pts (surprise loss, with fixtures catching up and tiredness kicking in against a horrible, gritty defensive side)
Southampton A - 0 pts (as good as we are it's daunting to go there right now)
QPR H - 3 pts (hopefully we won't be needing the win in this game, because it will be horrible and nervy as hell)

Total - 10 points, 2nd place finish and promoted by 2 points ahead of 3rd

Think I got the same, but swapping the pompey and boro results.

I think we should just win the next two.

Got us finishing Second on 85, one point ahead of Southampton.

Boring answer but we shouldn't be looking too far ahead because we need points on the board and West Brom may be safe by then. Saints might be safe in the play offs after a relentless run and rotate to keep players fresh for the play offs.

FWIW, at the moment:

Portsmouth 3
Boro 3
Charlton 3
West Brom 1
Saints 0 (out on the lash celebrating promotion)
QPR 1 (rotation, party atmosphere, no pressure. 3-3)

Boro shouldn't scare us. They are a very good side but they are struggling to score. We have a great defence. We can score at least twice. I strongly fancy us.

I think having us to win the next three is incredibly optimistic!

I'd say the OP is pretty much spot on.

Between us and Saints for second IMO and I reckon we will edge it by the odd point or so, definitely going to the final day I think!

I certainly don't think we are going to March off into the Premiership uplands at will.
There will be bumps along the way.
But I believe we will get there.

Portsmouth W
Boro W
Charlton D
WBA L
Southampton L
QPR W

Tomorrows game is a massive, win it and I can see us beating Boro on Sunday and Charlton next week and that may even be enough.

A draw or a loss opens things up for Boro which makes Sunday a lot harder and it could be squeaky bum time.

If we win tomorrow and are 6 points clear of Boro with a game in hand, you could see them taking their time with Hackney and Whittaker rather than playing them when they are almost ready in a must win game for them, risking injury and the players missing the play offs.

It could work out really well for us IF we beat Pompey

Agreed that Pompey game is massive, a loss or draw combined with Southampton inevitably beating Blackburn will really pile the pressure on. Unexpected 3 points at Norwich has set us up fantastically well though.

Difficult to call it game to game. I'd say:

Next 2 (Pompey & Boro): 4
Following 2 (Charlton & WBA): 4
Final 2 (Saints & QPR): 3

11 points, finish 2nd on 86 and 4 or 5 points clear of 3rd.

If its right there's a decent chance we're promoted at Charlton. Boro wouldn't be able to catch us, and Millwall and Saints would need to win all their games (Wall x 2, Saints x 3) between now and next Tuesday for us to not be going to the Valley the following day in a position where a win confirms it.

Wall games: QPR H Saturday, Stoke A next Tuesday
Saints: Blackburn H tomorrow, Swansea A Saturday, Bristol City H next Tuesday

Bonkers.

Why is that overly optimistic?

Middlesborough - 3 points
Charlton - 3 Points
WBA - 1 Point
Southampton - 0 Points
QPR - 3 Points

11 Points.

Not an unrealistic haul given we’ve accrued points at that rate this season. Millwall would have to win all their games, as would Boro (and overturn a GD swing of 11). S’ton wouldn’t be able to catch us.

It still could go down to the wire, but I think we’ll see this out now and then probably throw points away once it’s confirmed we’re up.

IGNORE ME, I can’t count. We’d be un-catchable if we get 11 more points. The scenario above is if we get 9 more points.

The good thing about Southampton being our main rivals for second is that if that pip us, we would not face them in the playoffs

I think

Beat Pompey 3 points
Beat boro 3 points
Draw Charlton 1 point - we go into the game knowing a win gets us promoted
Draw WBA 1 point
Beat Saints 3 points
Beat QPR 3 points

From all the permeations in my head, I can’t make one work where we can get promoted as early as Charlton…. Shame as it woukd be the perfect revenge for that horror show earlier in the season!

Portsmouth - 3 pts
Boro - 1 pt
Charlton - 3 pts
WBA -3 pts
Soton - 1 pt
QPR - 3 pts

Gives us 14 and sufficient for 2nd place. However, given Coventrys indifferent form in the last 2 matches !!

Its very achievable so long as we win all three.

We just need Millwall/ Saints to draw one of their next 2/3 and we are up.

Us winning the three in the big stretch given we haven't won 5 on the spin all year. Though it really does feel like we have found a groove now.

Should have beaten Millwall, saw Birmingham and Norwich off really well ... conceded two goals in our last 4 games etc

Pompey - fighting for lives, just won at Boro, a point would be ok.
Boro - despite dip in form, still 4th and a top side, still think well edge that one.
Charlton - never an easy place to go, hammered us at ours, a point again, a good result.

So yeah, to win all the above is being very optimistic indeed!

I’d take 5 points.

Championship form table last 6 ...

2. Ipswich Town - best run of form for the whole season

---

20. Charlton Athletic - 1 win from their last 6 at the Valley
22. Portsmouth - Last won at Fratton Park on Jan 31st
23. Middlesborough - Best players injured/ genuine relegation form over last 10

I know Football is not played on paper but all the indicators suggest we have a very good chance of winning all three.
