What can be done about it though?

In reality, nothing. Just have to put up with it, the demand is there these days.

It is just completely unnecessary too and long been a bugbear of mine that they (and tbf other football clubs) spin this myth that fans need to put their hands in their pockets to keep us competitive.

For reference, if every season ticket in the stadium was priced as if it was in the most expensive block (block H in the Cobbold) then this uplift would generate £1.9m for the club which is around 16% of the money that Ipswich spent on agents fees this season. There is simply no reason for Ipswich to exploit fans because they don't need the money.

Completely agree.

This is the American sports model.

They want you chowing down on Tingly Ted's in the fanzone spending hundreds in the shop during the one game you go to all season with the family.

It's pretty much war on season ticket holders.

Look at what is going on at Liverpool.

They could get this money from cancelling the ridiculous fire cannons.

Ashton OUT.

Bit of a hike but forgot that as I was 65 last December so mine will be a bit less than this season.
I take it that the club will automatically set up the direct debit accordingly.

Yes they did mine automatically when I qualified, they may want proof of you age if they haven't already seen it. I just emailed them a copy of my driving licence.

….what the actual current income from STs is and then what the additional income is from a 12% increase compared to a 5% increase.

It will be less than you’ve noted (lower average price) and will undoubtedly hardly make a dent in the finances, particularly if we get promoted.

Like many decisions made by our self obsessed, walking cliche of a CEO/Chairman, it isn’t a good look.

Yeah, it's probably more like £1m when concessions and cheaper blocks are considered.

As Sitters says it's a fairly moot point as we'll all keep paying it and then merry-go-round continues but I think it is important to know that this is a move primarily made from greed.

Do you reckon we'll get a "Trust me on this" at the next fan's forum?

And then some bulsh1t about how we need to do this to invest in players and ignoring all of the other questions about exactly how we are doing that at the moment.

It's not even with improving the team in mind, either. It's with a view to increasing the bottom line for an eventual sale.

I don't know what the appropriate multiplier is for football clubs, but even at a 10% yield an extra £1m on ST income is worth £10m to the value of the club.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

ITFC aren't alone (not that it's an excuse) but it's no longer as accessible as it once was as fans.

Personally, I hate the model of providing a 'match day experience' but I know that's just me being a miserable git. I'm happy to turn up, watch the game and go. I don't need a fanzone or an experience. I'm there to watch the football.

I catch up with people before and after the game, have a chat, beer and talk sh*te - that's the matchday experience.

Look at Fortuna Düsseldorf - they're trying to work towards making all matchday tickets free. There was also a report a couple of years back which showed how Liverpool don't need ticket revenue at all.

Then tell me how Town absolutely HAVE to raise ST prices.

It's exploiting loyalty, and it's f***ing shameful.

The TV/streaming audience is the priority for the Premier League, the media loves VAR as it enhances their product, people actually in the ground bring relatively little money in. We're just the equivalent of a TV studio audience, we even get a warm-up man with a microphone as they do. Free admission would be a logical step

At least your generation will get a discount. They'll phase those out as soon as they can. Probably use "age discrimination" as a reason too!

By the time I'm in God's waiting room, if there's any chance of me getting a season ticket it'll be like America and cost thousands.

36% increase on a cost per game basis if we go up.

Season ticket holders isn't great revenue when demand is so high. We've sold out Sunday, the 9,000 or so who don't have a season ticket have paid £35 to be there, the 21,000 who do have paid something in the region of £20. Over a season that's £3m of revenue gap between a £20 seat and a £35 seat.

They're pushing the ST price so much because they know they can, we'll sell 21k season tickets whether they're at todays prices or 20% more, that's the harsh reality. I feel like there should be some reward for loyalty for those around in the darker days, but I know its naive thinking.

I haven't spent anything in the ground all season. Much prefer to support local businesses instead.

I reckon we could see match tickets break the £50 barrier next year for North/South upper tiers if we go up. I'm not sure there's scope to go that high if we remain in the Championship.

For Championship football it's still a £11.60 reduction per game compared to on-the-day prices for me - and that's based on this year's on-the-day ticket price. I suspect they'll be a significant increase in those prices too, especially if we're promoted.

No doubt, the differential will increase I think.

On a per game basis mine is about £20 in the championship and £25 if Prem next season. In its own right not ludicrous, albeit a chunky jump from this season. I'd expect day prices to be £45 in North / South stands.

I'd assume that's part of the thinking behind it also. No more lending your ticket to a friend if you can't make it, you have to put it up for resale.

With the away fan price capped again in the PL at £30 next season, it will be interesting to see if home match ticket prices are increased.
