If he’s still out injured, we should win but if he’s back, it will give Boro a big boost and a very good chance of getting something from the game.

Whitaker may also return.

Both might be a bit rusty though.

Hackney is out for this weekend.

They're priming him for the Watford game on the 25th.

Whittaker could be on the bench though.

They will be of course you're right there ...but their presence in the team will give that team, a big lift unfortunately ..

Regardless of him playing, our midfield will need to be considerably better than it was on Tuesday night. It reminded me of some of our games last season where we just got totally bullied through the middle of the pitch.

I really felt for Dara. He had a decent game and you could see how f00ked off he was.

Totally agree. I'm concerned they're going to find it all too easy to play through us on Sunday. We're best when we can funnel teams wide, but Boro are probably the narrowest team in the division. We've got to try and make the pitch big ourselves and stretch their box 4 midfield.

Morris is really decent in the middle.

He's very good but he's not Messi. There is zero reason for us to worry about a potentially half fit Hackney starting. Look at the quality in our own team.

Neither are that good if we somehow get promoted neither would be what we require including Hackney.

Agreed. He's clearly a good player but people, including the media/commentators go way OTT.

Can't remember what game I was watching and he made a few fairly simple passes and they're lauding over him. Weird.

No, he's an exceptionally gifted player. He would've been ideal next to Matusiwa as the chief ball progressor. Here's hoping we have a second chance at nabbing him this summer.

Needs a midfielder with balls and that isn't cajuste or Neil it's Taylor,
You can see what it means to him in his eyes he wants to win,

Can't agree Cressi; I really rate Hackney & fully expect him to become Premier League regular over the next couple of years.

Boro with Hackney are a promotion chasing team. Without Hackney they are mid table team at best. If the lad is not playing Sunday then that is a massive advantage for us

If we lose because of one decent opposition player, the premier league is not for us.

Not a great time for our two most influential players to suffer with a loss of form!

(Both due to injury).

According to comments I read from their manager earlier this evening, they initially expected Hackney back for the match against Millwall. As he said, unfortunately it's taken longer than expected. He wasn't to be drawn on whether he'd be able to play any part on Sunday, but the article writer had him down as expected return against Watford on I believe, the weekend after next. As for Whittaker, more chance of a return in some capacity on Sunday. I would have a salt cellar close by, if you get my meaning.

More worried about Whittaker, you just know if he plays he's going to score.

If we'd had Hackney this season, and managed to get Bamford in January, we wouldn't have been worrying about permutations going into this weekend.
