And we thought this was a blow to corruption and cronyism in FIFA, along with the expulsion of Jack Warner and others. How innocent all that now seems.

Funny how Germany can manage free public transport to football matches (and other events - a concert I went to at Schalke came with free transport to/from the stadium) without making public transport cripplingly expensive for day-to-day users.

Charging for fan zones too which originally were going to be free. It’s all set to be the worst World Cup ever.

Not just Boston - NY Transit are introducing "Special Event Pricing" - so a return ticket that usually costs about $13 will be $100.

You could always drive, it's not as if the car park costs $225 at MetLife or anything . . .

Anyone remember when football was about 22 peeps kicking a ball around?

Should never have been awarded to US, but its all about the $$$ for FIFA.

I'd be supportive of England boycotting it tbh if a few of the other European nations were inclined to do the same.

Euros is better anyway and the next World cup in Spain / Portugal / Morocco should be decent. US has no right to get their hands on another WC especially after having '94.

Impressive really when you think that Dubai was generally considered to be the nadir of FIFA corruption.

I honestly don't understand why anyone would want to go to this one, especially matches in the US.

You're going to get treated badly and screwed financially, much better to stay at home and watch on TV.

Plus a 3 week jail stay courtesy of the DOJ for calling the Orange C0ckwomble a c*** on social media.

No thanks. This WC embodies the worst of the corruption in football than even the last one managed, and that's going some.

It's going to be a shit World Cup and I have zero interest in it. The US is not a footballing country and they shouldn't be hosting the World Cup again when they had it in 1994. There's proper footballing countries that haven't hosted for a lot longer and indeed some countries with decent pedigree that haven't hosted one (either individually or jointly). F**k FIFA, f**k Trump.

Needs a few of the big guns to break away & form their own association - Brazil, Argentina, England, Germany, France, top African nation/s. Others would follow.

I'll probably get sucked in to watching England this summer, but the whole thing feels very sullied now.

Don't we remember our once great owner who himself decided he would make a fortune from football fans in Mexico if my memory serves me correctly.
We are being hoodwinked in every way possible by anyone that sees an opening for gorging themselves on the little man.
As humans we are never free whichever Country we live in. Whether we are controlled by dictators or by money men and governments who decide what is good for us and especially what is good for them.
Because tournaments, concerts or whatever appeals to us we go along with it. Well some do, personally I don't.
I very rarely went to a players testimonial even though they had been great servants to the club as I felt they had earned enough, far more than I ever did,
But of course you pays your money you take your choice.

I have no interest in this World Cup, which is extraordinary considering how close it is now. Maybe, like others, I'll get sucked in to watching the England & Scotland games when the time comes, but at this point I am genuinely hoping that it is such a complete sh#tshow, which fans boycott in their droves, that this can never be allowed happen again.

I know it's very much a first world problem, but I am genuinely p1ssed off that I feel such little enthusiasm for the World Cup anymore. Didn't watch it last time, probably won't this time either. Used to be the highlight of 4 years' worth of football.

Who remembers the Euros in 96? Sadly we'll never see that level of support and togetherness, for international football, again.

It's not just America.

Here in Toronto, they just announced that the fanzones are now going to be ticketed and the prices are wild!

It was originally promised that these would be community events that would bring those who couldn't afford match tickets a chance to celebrate together.

Sure...

I'm with you on that one. I have a lot of disdain for international football normally anyway, but this World Cup can go to hell. Good luck to the blues who will be there, but don't intend to watch any of it (not that it'll matter one iota to anyone) - lots of other sport to watch, New Zealand, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka are all over for the cricket, there'll be Wimbledon, F1, the Commonwealth Games, and then looking forward to the new Town season whatever division we're in.
