I was surprised, but think the ref handled that silliness pretty well. Maybe because it was more of a head push than a head butt that saved him. Haaland not going down and making a meal of it helped his case too.
A Swansea player got sent off earlier in the season for a ghost head butt in a very similar situation. It was a similar movement but he made no contact, just 2 players fronting up, yet the opposition player rolled around on the floor holding his face - straight red and a 3 game ban that was. The inconsistency/crap officiating not spotting cheats is infuriating sometimes. So fair play to Haaland in this case imo. | |
