What excuse will Mr Starmer use this time 06:57 - May 8 with 2948 viewsonceablue

Labour have no chance of winning anything whilst he is in charge.

If he thinks anything of the party he says he loves he will resign he has to

Unfortunately he made too many promises he just couldn’t keep and blaming the previous Government just doesn’t cut it anymore.

Imagine if after 2 years under McKenna we were still useless but he kept blaming the previous Manager, the state of the training ground, the pitch etc - You would still expect to see some improvement

Hate is a very strong word to use - fundamentally he is a decent fella who unfortunately isn’t suited to being PM. Too indecisive and too willing to appeal to everyone but in terms of character he is still way above recent Tory PMs as well as Farage.

Lots of focus, rightly, on how this is bad for Starmer and Labour, but it's looking terrible for badenoch and the tories too.

The party oh government often gets a kicking in council elections, let alone one as unpopular as Starmer currently is, but its supposed to be the opposition party who takes advantage.

They’re super useful though, and in some cases essential, if we want to support working parents. Not everywhere allows people to be flexible around school drop offs and pickups. We couldn’t have managed without after school clubs (although had to pay for most of them at the time).

Well it’s Reform that are seemingly taking advantage right now. Is there any point in voting for the Tories when Reform are around? Nationally and locally the Tories need to become much more moderate in order to be more of an alternative than Reform.

Get kicked 😂😂😂😂

Polls say they will lose 70% of their seats, it is a total disaster for them.

It seems the vocal left on here are going to be proved out of touch with real voters yet again.

Did Labour bring in breakfast clubs?

My sons schools and other schools already had them? Or did they make it free for the low income workers?

(I still pay for my sons)

Again, what have Labour got to do with "the left"? Arguably since late Blair years they've not been left of centre.

It would still be packed with the same corrupt failures that trashed the economy and public services over the last 15 years. Don’t fall for any rebranding- they’ve proved utterly incompetent no matter who leads them. Finished for a good few years I think.

Sadly Labour represents the least worst option for me, that said not enough that I voted for them. The authoritarianism and continued failure of public services meant I didn’t want to reward them with a vote. Where I am they’ve not even stopped the rot with the NHS - waiting lists are actually worse than under the last dreadful lot. In summary we are screwed!

There is no point in focussing on the tories. They are finished. Dead as Elvis. Not relevant to any conversation and not opposition to anything. They love the warm comfy seats of opposition where they can sleep and look at Twitter. Or worse.

The issue is the current government. They should, given the lack of opposition, be dominant in any vote on anything.

They spent 14 years in opposition yet looked completely surprised when the tories were thrown out, even though it was obvious they were and are toast.

So in two years, what have Labour achieved? Not much. They’ve gone through the blame routines already. My perception is that whilst they love the trappings of power they haven't the first idea what to do with it so have spent their time trying to shore up their own support.

Part of the problem is that telling lies, fobbing the plebs off with sound bites and nonsense, burying bad news etc is highly fashionable and conducted by them all. Why bother with the truth or doing the right thing when you can spew a load of twaddle for the dimbos or blame somebody else before heading off to that oh so enjoyable HoC lunch?

The economy? The government aren’t interested any more than their predecessors were. You can always print money.

Migration? The successive governments haven't been interested since Blair threw the doors open and said figuratively all are welcome in the late 90s. In fact they must actively support unlimited immigration, as do the tories, otherwise the Danish model or something similar would have been adopted. A bit of honesty from the government here might help because regardless of its merits and even the truth of it, it is clearly a worry to people otherwise there would be no Reform. It is the elephant in the room.

Thats just two elements. There is plenty of other aspects including foreign policy, relations with Europe, green policies which while the aims are right in my view, how they are zealously going about it isn’t, benefits budget, treatment of people renting out their properties, the assault on those they do not consider labour supporters, tax, you name it.

Labour will ditch Starmer but for whom? Milliband? It wouldn't surprise me. Rayner? Possibly, but surely she’s tainted by swerving Stamp Duty. The political ‘talent’ has been thin for years. Echo chambers like that chancer Boris Johnson? Yay! Great in front of the camera with ruffled hair. Pity he is a waste of space. Starmer - safe pair of hands? Well only if he’s holding on to his expenses claims forms or his free tickets.

The main parties by focussing on themselves rather than doing the right thing have only themselves to blame for where they are. Shame its us that pay.
