Everyone talks about Sunderland’s recruitment, what about fixtures? 13:20 - May 22 with 2834 viewsunstableblue

The Premier League gave them such a gift:

West Ham (h)
Burnley (a)
Brentford (h)
Palace (a)
Villa (h)
Forest (a)

With a number of those starting the season slowly. They amassed 11 points, 3 wins, and were on their way.

The fixture computer gave us:

Liverpool (h)
Man City (a)
Fulham (h)
Brighton (a)
Saints (a)
Villa (h)

4 points, 4 draws. No wins. Valiant draws yes - Villa, Fulham and Brighton were strong. And yes we fecked up at Saints but I think we were fatigued.

They binned the majority of the players they were building with off though. Getting top players in Europe with the profile for the PL is the reason for their success.

Please do define "binned off" because:

Trai Hume played 39 (I guess it includes cups)
Le Fee 39
Wilson Issidor 35
Dan Ballard 31
Mayende 23
Chris Rigg 19
Mundle 16
Luke O'Nien 14
Dennis Cirkin 10
and several others made some appearances.

They signed a new keeper (Roefs) as did we (Muric) who could have been as good but his early errors meant it all went wrong. They signed Xhaka whilst we signed Phillips. There is no disputing that we got our recruitment wrong and they got theirs right, but the idea they didn't have a far better base to start from is pure fiction.
