I’m overjoyed we are not going to Wembley and can sit smugly with a cold one watching them fight it out.
I dreaded the prospect of the playoffs. I’ve seen at least one game of all our sorry efforts and aside from the one rather well known occasion, have come away gutted. All that effort and you are left with nothing. Zilch.
Nah, I’ll take the tedium of second and a rather cr@ppy trophy (I’d have thought a medal for the players would have been sufficient) every time.
I’ve actually been to Wembley a few times for play off finals with chums supporting other clubs (Grimsby and Crewe Alex) and for all but the poor s0d whose team it is, it’s a great day out. [Post edited 23 May 10:35]

slightly separate point as i'm including major cup competitions as well as the playoffs, but our record in finals (impeccable), compared to our record in semis (pretty poor) has to be one of the biggest discrepancies in football! | |

When we played Bansley in the playoffs it was a great game (even for the neutral). One of my favourite matches, but wasn't a shade on the semi final home tie against Bolton in the same campaign.
Either way, I never wish to be in a playoff ever again now its expanding to include more teams.
