I think it's really hard to know where our recruitment setup is at. Feel like our recruitment has been very much in the B- to C+ range for quite a few transfer windows in a row (wrote as much for the Blue Monday blog https://bluemondaypodcast.word ).
But we are going to have to step up a gear massively in terms of recruitment insight to get anywhere this season and yes, absolutely, we're going to have to identify and persuade players who are less known in England than Delap and Parrott. | |

I think the logic is that he clearly improves the team we currently have very significantly. I am not sure what people are expecting. I guess if we can get Foden and Bowen over the line, we shouldn't be going for players like Delap. | |

Id be gob smacked, but thrilled in equal measures if we got Foden / Bowen over the line. That would be a statement of intent, but its likely to be just a pipe dream. Ptjer more established clubs would be after those two,vand thus is thevreal.problem.facing Ashton and his recruitment team. Delap just doesnt do it it for me im afraid.
I can see us doing our shopping abroad, which on itself has its own problems. We need to spend wisely, rather than throw money at every player suggested to us by agents... just my view of course. | |

Just one season ago Delap was being chased by almost every team in the premier league. It hasn't worked for him at Chelsea but he doesn't become a bad player.
We need 2 strikers. If Delap could be one it's a no brainer. | |

Delap on his own wasn't enough last time. We need a player of his quality and I don't see any reason to think Parrott is any better. I don't think we should be looking at signing strikers of a lower level. If that's all we can get we will continue to struggle in that department. | |

Although I do believe Delap is better in a team who play more on the break. Against teams who sit deep his not so good needs to be able to run behind so I think he will fit as I believe a lot of sides will have more of the ball than we will. | | | |
