I'd forgotten he was on 'the board of peace'. That adds useful context to this.

Far too detailed to have been written by Trump, but clearly influenced by Blair’s paymaster.

so he's saying that because he's been paid and he's wrong that ai is changing every aspect of our economy and our lives?

What I don't really get is the need that these people seem to have for the main party of the left to also represent their views. Why not just join one of the right wing parties rather than agitate continuously for right wing policies in a left wing party? Why must your flavour of right-wing authoritarianism come with a red button? [Post edited 27 May 10:24]

Surely the point is that AI is taking over because it is being forced into our lives with very little input from the general population, merrily pushed by the likes of Sunak and other people with the platform to do so. I'll hold my hand up and admit that I think the way AI is being used is 90% useless and pointless (there are clearly some very good uses too), and the environmental and human impact of it will be huge.

how can it 'take over' if it's '90% useless and pointless'?

If the right control the direction of both main parties, then there is no significant left to worry about. Blair et al would much rather have had a May or Johnson government than one led by Jeremy Corbyn and John McDonnell, and they did everything they could to ensure that's what they got.

the labour party is the party of the left because it's purpose is to ensure that “power, wealth and opportunity are in the hands of the many not the few”. that doesn't mean it has to retain a view of the state which is still based in the 1970s. it's perfectly possible to be left wing, to want to benefit the many, but still believe the current state is sclerotic, counter-productive and carries a huge dead weight cost. radical reform of the state is not incompatible with being of the left. there you go, i've spared you the trouble of reading the article.

What's the need for your last sentence? You made your point quite well, then you insist on patronising the person you're replying to.
