Happy pride month everybody. Feels especially important this year as the UK continues to fall down the LGBTQ+ safety rankings in Europe- https://rainbowmap.ilga-europe
It is only 10 years since we ranked as the safest place in Europe and now we languish below the European average; a shame on consecutive UK Governments.
The current Labour administration continues to fail queer people, from failing to ban conversion therapy to an anti-trans b*stardisation of the Equalities act. Labour have submitted to a campaign to rollback LGBTQ+ rights well funded by US Christian evangelicals who will soon turn their attention to abortion and divorce rights.

A slight correction, we are below the EU average, but still above the "Europe" average. That's mainly because Russia, Belarus, Turkey and the Caucasus tank the "Europe" average to make us look not quite so crap.

it is nonsense to claim that the equality act is "an anti-trans b*rstardisation" or that labour has "rolled back lgbtq+ rights". both statements are simply lies. uk legislation defines rights and protections for ALL groups - and the legal protections against discrimination, abuse and harassment haven't changed at all. sex-based rights, including the well established exemptions under the equality act, are also protected by law. you don't need to spread such distortions to celebrate pride month. |  |
