Hope he fully recovers but sadly I think that will be it for his career. I thought he had something fitted to restart his heart if it stopped? Maybe that's why he was conscious in the ambulance.

Well that's a cheery edit.

I was amazed he continued to play.
I think it’s time to call it a day
Agreed, most would have retired but he clearly loves football. He gave it another go and fair play but surely time to hang up the boots as playing with fire at this stage.

Danish coach confirmed the device worked, unconscious for a while,, but device got him going again. Wish him a fully recovery, but would be ludicrous to continue
Currently in the UK survival-to-home rates for out of hospital cardiac arrest is roughly 9%. We have many studies that show that prompt shock and CPR DOES make a difference.
Do some good in the world, people.
I'm one of the people who was blamed for getting Paul Cook sacked. PM for the full post.
After two attacks 6 stents and a shed load of tablets to take I was absolutely gobsmacked to see him back on a football pitch after his attack! Let’s hope he calls it a day and doesn’t push his luck any further🤞

CPR will not revive somebody as it sometimes does on tv. That’s what a defibrillator does, all being well. What CPR does is move the blood to the brain and vital organs. As such it’s a time buying lifesaver.
It’s a relatively simple life skill everyone should be taught. Luckily I have never had to use it.

It did work. So maybe he can play on. Maybe he desperately wants to while he still can. Maybe he’ll call it a day.
There must be increased anxiety amongst his team mates after this.
It was his 151st cap. What an incredible achievement. And what a lovely footballer to watch.

Sadly, CPR alone has around a 10% success rate. But what it does do is buy time for defibrillation treatment, which is the real life saver. That's why it is so important to have even just a basic training of CPR. If you can keep blood pumping to the brain and around the body, you give that person the best chance of recovery when the defib team arrive.
Even just watching a CPR video might mean you could save a life.

Who knows what the smart thing is though. It worked tonight. He’ll know better than the rest of us.
I hope he can play again. If he wants to.
terrible for it to have happened again. unfortunately he has to stop now -- on the face of it, would be incredibly selfish to try again. Not fair on his family or teammates to continue

True, it did work, but I wonder if his family are thinking his job isn't worth the risk.
Fabrice Muamba decided not.
Obviously it's not for any of us to say for or against, but it must be a bloody hard decision to make. Feel sorry for him 34 and two heart attacks.

Think had this happened at 24 you could see him try to maximise what he could on the pitch, but at 34, surely he must realise that he's had a stellar career, earned enough to take it easy and spend time with his family.
