I imagine you may be on to something with your second point - he and his agent may fear that a second relegation may somewhat blot his copybook.

Yeah. I don't think Fulhasm is the job he particularly wants and I'm not sure Fulham want McKenna but he's allowing his name to be floated in order to alert any other potential suitors.

So Schira could well be a willing accomplice here?

Wouldn't be the first time an agent has used the press to flush out interest in their client.

I read that as:- Fulham have offered a contract.
KM has not accepted it...yet.
There is no confirmation of Town accepting or being paid 8mil.
This could be true, but equally BS.

KM is already on really good money so I don’t think MA should be blackmailed in giving him a better contract this time. He played that card last time. Personally I’m not bothered if KM goes as I do think we could attract a manager who might be better at keeping us in the PL.

Right. Makes sense.

What's your take Joe? You think it's done?

KM rightly backs his ability so maybe he sees Fulham as the stepping stone. But I can't see why we couldn't be if get the next two seasons right.

If he backs his own ability then he would surely stay to test that self belief !

Yes ?

I still struggle to see them paying £8m to get him, seems way too much so hoping it means it doesn’t happen!

It seems strange to me that clubs will baulk at paying a few million for a manager when they will happily pay tens of millions for a player. The manager is the single most important employee at a club and the right one will make much more difference than any single player.

Yep - always thought the same with wages tbh.

Man U under Fergie - plenty of players earning way more than the manager but I think it's clear who did the most towards their success .

Surely they can’t offer him a contract until they’ve agreed to pay the release fee. I haven’t seen a single report to suggest that they have agreed to pay it

Yeah. You'd think even £8m for a manager is nothing if you think he's good.

yet happy to spend £30-40m on a player who is probably average at best. Weird.

EDIT: I think someone mentioned the other day that for financial accounts the manager spend is in that year whereas players can be spread over a number of year. However, still you'd think £8m for a PL club is not that much!

Yes, if you went and signed a £40m player on a 5-year contract then year 1 would register as £8m on your balance sheet.

They are very different investments in general though. With players there's a decent chance you'll sell them on and realise more value on them. With managers the likeliest outcome is that you have to fire them within 1-2 years and pay them even more money doing so.
