| I was watching Kings of Anglia podcast and a name was mentioned... 21:21 - Jun 10 with 6918 views | Libero | I hadn't considered, that I actually think would be a great fit- Graham Potter. He's currently managing Sweden at the World Cup and really we need our new man in situ ASAP, so I suspect that sadly rules him out somewhat. Here's my immediate list of yes and no's - just to wind some of you up. YES Graham Potter Ange Postecoglu Brendan Rodgers Liam Rosenior Sean Dyche Tony Mowbray Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Thomas Frank (also on a sabbatical, sadly) Gareth Southgate (not sure why one of the national teams most successful ever managers would want to come to Ipswich, but I have seen his name mentioned) NO Gary O'Neil Scott Parker Steven Gerrard Rob Edwards Steve Cooper Phillipe Clement Danny Rohl Carlos Corberan | | | | |

Any further elaboration on why you don't fancy Potter? What he did at Brighton was excellent- we've got that link with their recruitment team and it's no secret that what we're trying to achieve is somewhat modelled on what they've done. Neither of his West Ham/Chelsea stints were even a year- the latter, only just over half a year and both basket case clubs, so hard to judge his work there IMO.

West Ham was a disaster. I have nothing against him, just think he isn't as good as some think. Can't argue with the Brighton bit, but since.....

What was it about his 7 month stint at West Ham that you felt was particularly egregious? I'm not sure you can pin the basket case situations at West Ham and Chelsea on him- although you could maybe question his wisdom in taking both roles... | | | | Login to get fewer ads

The worst thing that could happen is we get relegated, sack the manager and start all over again in the Championship. The ideal candidate did too good a bloody job as caretaker of Man U. I'd love Frank, but he has said he's on a sabbatical, sadly. I left Carsley off the list, just as I didn't consider him a serious candidate- what is it about him that particularly excites you?

He's a very good coach, Level headed Good organiser, And spots and knows young talent, In the Thomas frank sabbatical is it a smokescreen, Funny he's come out with this and it would have considered with when Kieran may have told the club his decision, Just a thought, Can't wait for the itfc was just to good an opportunity to turn down,

Lee carsely spots young talent. As Roy Keane would say, that's his job

Aren’t these just basic qualities for any solid professional manager? I understand he will have a good knowledge of young players, due to his current role- just not sure that’s enough, or even particularly useful?
| I was watching Kings of Anglia podcast and a name was mentioned... on 22:00 - Jun 10 with 3990 views | DecageBruce | I wouldn’t be against it in theory but think he’s happy where he is. The thing with Potter is the same fear I have for KM as he moves up the ranks. Potter is known for his strange approaches to team building (activities such as pantomimes:breaking down egos etc) as KM was known for his diligent coaching and approach. At a ‘lower’ level these coaches can work wonders as players buy u to their approaches as it helps them and they see the progression and success. Once with ‘too level’ players they (not all to generalise) don’t want all the fluffy stuff as they believe they’ve made it and just want to train and play. It’s been seen a lot over the years with coaches stepping up. Horses for coarse sand coaches/managers have to adapt as much as players do and that’s where the best of both sometimes meet and success is seen | | | |

I get that, but he's a wild card as Kieran was, Most of the managers on most people's list aren't inspiring, O'neil would be dreadful and he's circling social media but that dosent pick our next manager, I particularly don't want rosenior,

Press made a lot of fuss over Rosiener at Chelsea, quite unfair IMO. He’s clearly a talented and promising manager!

Indeed he did, you don’t think the Premier League would be a sufficient pull? I think we’re going to need to appoint someone before he’d be available, regardless.

McKenna will be Celtic's manager next year, O'neill is in his 70s and has a one year deal. He's having a year to chill out before going into Parkhead
