It was quick, 2-3 weeks.

12 days. Cook sacked on the 4th December, Mckenna appointed on 16th:

I'd imagine when the takeover happened that they had an idea about who they wanted to bring in though.

And Ashton has known McKenna is off for the last 2 weeks, so it might not be that far off.

We are an infinitely better prospect to any manager now too, not a club in the middle of L1.

I'd imagine the problem Ashton will have will be there will be too much interest and having to wade through all the chaff first

So if the reports are correct that Ashton has known about this for a couple of weeks, he must be quite a way along the process of replacement?

I definitely think he was already lined up at the point of the takeover.

I remember meeting Martyn Pert back in February 2022, whilst I was doing some work for him, and the conversation turned to football. When he realised I was a Town fan we got chatting about the takeover (which, at that point, was widely being reported as being off), and he seemed to know far more about it than he should have done in his then position.

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

You would like to think so. We have an incredibly important summer ahead of us and the World Cup is already 'in the way' as such. I think a quick appointment should get everyone moving on quickly and all pointing in the same direction.

I guess the only thing is how much of the two weeks Ashton and the Owners might have spent trying to change his mind.

Judging by the social media posts, they have known for a while:

Editing of videos in place to post/Kieran to react to, and presenting him with the picture as parting gift. I think the last post that needs to go out is a full tribute from all the players, which will have be gated by not letting them know until announcement was scheduled.

The volume of SM posts has also been quite heavy in under 24 hours - I presume they are getting these all posted, ready for a new manager to be announced ASAP.

Suspect they will have used the time over the last couple of weeks to get a credible appointment in place - my thoughts are this lines up with Frank ruling himself out of the Fulham job, but this is all just me speculating.

The takeover took place a year before in April 2021.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

I'd imagine the main problem Ashton will have is being out of his depth. A great first appointment, fair play, and a gamble that paid off spectacularly well. We'll see how much the Americans rely on Ashton. He talks a good game when it comes to corporate speak, but will it be backed up again.

Let's see if lightning strikes twice.
