At Prem Lg level, we need someone who already knows what it's like to operate at the top level and isn't just coming here cos it's a Prem Lg job and they're out of work - Postecoglou/Thomas Frank (ask any Spurs fan why we should steer clear of him)/Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. We need someone with fire in the belly. We also need someone who is in touch/active with the state of play in the current transfer market (so no to the likes of former out of work players such as Damien Duff or Stevie G). Judging from what we know, the club are likely to have begin their hunt for a new boss weeks ahead of yesterday's announcement. So, after all that waffle, who should take over? Prior to us going up last time, I'd have taken O'Neil or Rosenior. Not now. And they are the top two in most bookies' markets as to who will be next in charge (although those markets are volatile). I have to say it, no one in particular is making me feel jiggy. My personal choice? Don't laugh.....Graham Potter. He's likely to be out of work after guiding Sweden - somehow - to the World Cup finals. I'm willing to forgive anyone who has been charge of Chelsea/W Ham recently (despite what I said about Rosenior). He knows the Prem Lg. Did a top job at Brighton. And then it all went wrong at Chelsea and W Ham, although you could put forward a case for why a lot of that was not his fault. And he didn't have the kind of budget at the Hammers that other bosses have had. He is still highly regarded and is still 'active' in football, so he must know who is available etc and his Swedish links might help, too! He knows the top level. He has something to prove, unfinished business etc after his reputation was tarnished. He is 51. 33-1 on a lot of betting markets, not that I'm suggesting you should put £1 on him.

Yep. You could flip that and say he did the groundwork for those two. At the end of the day, we just need to finish 17th next season.

Incredibly harsh. They have built on what Potter did originally. They've made a lot of money from players he had...! He took over from Chris Hughton when they just survived relegation I think....!

I'm not sure he's the right fit for us though. His Brighton team punched slightly above their weight during his time, but I think this is more down to the club than him, he still lost more games than he won there and every subsequent manager has had a better win %. The less said about Chelsea the better. West Ham was awful. He spent over £120m in the summer and tried to instill a style of play that he just didn't have the players for, and much like Amorim at United, was too stubborn to alter it, and it cost him his job. He'd also only be available after the World Cup, which we can't afford to wait for. I'd be giving him a hard swerve.

He has a contract till 2030, and has his whole team of assistants on board. He likes Sweden, and the Swedish media and fans like him. Yes, you'd think his 'build-a-whole-culture' style might be more suited to club management, but I would not be surprised if he likes where he has landed now. Even if Sweden aren't great in this tournament, the Swedish F.A. and public are pretty aware that they right now they have three or four stars and not much else, and will want someone to build a new generation.
