This was all part of the plan to allow McKenna to move to Celtic without the compensation (which I am surprised they could not afford), ready for when O'Neil steps down. I assume, done as a favour to McKenna so he can make the move there after a break and has the added benefit to Town of him not going to a direct rival?
I don't entirely begrudge that, if it's true. I think if McKenna really does want to manage Celtic, and this was the only way to facilitate that, he's more than earned it.

I don't trust the club to make accurate statements or tell the whole story. Do you? If so, why?
Williams, Omari and Farage, are proof they cannot be trusted on the comms front. The Pope stuff makes me question that we've known for 2-weeks too. Why would deals suddenly be off if we knew the manager was off? Something about it doesn't feel right, but I wouldn't say I am full on tin-foil with it either. I get that it upsets you to see the club questioned, we all want to be loyal, but for me, too many fibs have ben told for me to take anything at face value any longer.
They really have to earn that trust back, and they are yet to. Equally, I feel some supporters are far too trusting given recent events here. I think Ashton has been given too much of a pass for the "we had no idea Nigel was even in the building" stuff, before the U-turn of, yeah we knew, we're not sorry about it but we're sorry you are upset. | |

I actually think that’s exactly what’s happening here. No, I’m not claiming to be “in the know” or have any knowledge on it whatsoever but it makes an awful lot of sense to me. He gets a year off to be with his family, as he stated. With O’Neil on a one year he’ll go and McKenna steps in after. Goes to Celtic proves he can win cups and leagues and isn’t just a “promotion king” then gets the United job. It wouldn’t be the first time we’ve let a loyal servant that have been integral to our journey, leave on a freebie |  |
