| Middle of June 19:23 - Jun 17 with 4500 views | FrimleyBlue | When/if there is a time when its acceptable to feel a little hmmm about the state of play at present Its not that weve ever been prolific in june anyway but with everything going on and the club knowing 3 weeks ago what was accuring.. when does everything need to be in place to get a solid start to the season. A week and a bit to go before july and weve no manager. No signings ( im not suprised so not bemoaning it as such) weve not finished the training ground either Just seems like.the last prem promotion summer was messed up a bit with the whole will he wont he go. This time round its been similar but with him going but taken again a while to decide. Just feels a bit hmmm Hmmm. | |

There could be a gem in the applications we hadn’t considered/didn’t think was available/realistic, etc. It’s not worth fretting over. The manager will be in when they’re in. Same with the players - we’re going to find it tough again to attract players, so I imagine it will be same as usual and they will be arriving until the window shuts. Not ideal, but normal.

You tie up all your friendlies that still need to be confirmed. Theres coaching changes other areas of recruitment happens in this period. Last summer the jokes were made like yours then. Check notes only... left. And look how our aug and sept went. Anyways just me airing discomfort really. Happy to be alone in this. |
Checks notes... we won promotion.

Yep. Thanks to boro. ( altho we may have won playoffs so your promotion bit would still stand) point being was we had a horrid start to the season which meant we wwrw playing catch up the until March. But you know that.

Thanks to boro?!? No, thanks to McKenna and the players. The table never lies.

| Middle of June on 23:27 - Jun 17 with 748 views | Nthsuffolkblue | McKenna leaving has come at a poor time (is there ever a great one?) It is far more important to take time to get the new appointment right than to rush it and get it wrong. But there is a genuine worry we will be falling behind the curve in negotiations for new players. Is it possible we have started discussions with some? We have clearly decided to make offers/take up options on several currently here. I understand the angst but I can't see what alternative there was. At least the new manager will have a big say on who we do get in once they are in place. It would possibly have been worse for McKenna to have overseen the full transfer window and then left a couple of matches into the season. | |

Again sorry for thinking people can discuss things. Anyways. Lets leave it there and look forward to the england game. |
People are discussing it. Just not quite in the way you wanted!

Yep and neither does the results list which showed we spent the majority of it chasing due to our start and we were thankful boro bottled it as it helped us. Doesnt mean km and the players dont deserve plaudits. They caught up and took advantage when it came. Happy days.

We spent most of the season with 1 and then 2 games in hand. Our position was always a false one.

We also had up to 4 games in hand at times as well. A season is 46 matches, it doesn't matter if you start slowly or like a rocket, it's where you finish that matters.

Indeed it does hence why we applaud them for it Doesnt mean boro getting just 4 points out of 28 in that bad run didnt help us. We did all we could after a difficult start.

You don't seem to get it. They got 4 points out of 28 because they weren't good enough. We had a bad run at the start, they had a bad run at the end. It doesn't make any difference what way round it is, just who gets the most points. We were the second best team, end of. So bleating about the slowness or quality or whatever about our signings is just daft. Anyway, I'm off to bed, night night x

Thank you for taking time and responding. I agree there definately isnt a right time and defo any further down the line would have been worse. I guess i was genuinly suprised that we didnt have that plan ready to go once it was confirmed. 3 weeks is a long time in football.

| Middle of June on 00:16 - Jun 18 with 635 views | itfc1108 | I'm a little concerned also frimmers. The side who finished 17th last season, has brought 3 top class defenders in already, including one for £52million. (Van Hecke, Robertson and Senesi) It will be difficult enough to compete if everything was in place, like manager, coaching staff, players, separate ceo and chairman! Hopefully in the next week or so, all these ducks will be in a row, and then the focus can be on recruitment. I hope that you're ok. | | | |

What were you expecting? Us to have already negotiated with potential new managers before the job was vacant?

Considering km reps had spoken to other clubs whilst still managing town and with it being a potential that KM would be off ( and then once that was confirmed) yeah i believed ashton would have it all ready to go.

That's a lot of negotiating with a lot of candidates every time there was a possibility he was going to leave.

Of course. Doesnt need to go as far as negotiating. But sounding out. Having that short list ready. He hadbt sounded out km at the time but when he did it only took him 4 days from meeting to hiring. 3 weeks have passed since ashton had it confirmed he was leaving but km told him he was thinking about it just after promotion, so yeah very suprised we havent heard of one yet. Can you point me to where it was confirmed that he was leaving 3 weeks ago (27 May)?

Phil in his news story at the time "Town have known about McKenna’s decision for a couple of weeks" And we are now 1 week on Plus talksport interview ashton said km had told him at the end of the season he was thinking about going.

Thinking about it is far from it being confirmed. EDIT: I have now found the phrase in the article Phil wrote. Whether Phil meant that it was confirmed a couple of weeks before it was announced or whether he meant they were aware it was heading that way only Phil will know. Ashton's comments state it was a dialogue that started with the suggestion from McKenna at the end of the season. It is also possible we sounded out the likes of Knutsen and/or Rosenior and unnamed other candidates and it became clear they weren't interested/available for whatever reason. It appears from Ashton's comments that unexpected candidates threw their hats into the ring once the departure was announced too. As I say, it is better to take some time to get the decision right than it is to rush into a wrong one. Before the announcement, the club is very limited on what they can do without the news becoming public before they wanted to announce it. [Post edited 18 Jun 1:12]

We will sort the manager and then things will move on from there. Don't think this is a road you want to start down. SB |
He’s only asking as he is concerned and talking about those concerns. That’s what a football forum is for.
