Berlin roll-call 14:07 - Jun 26 with 9079 viewsZx1988

Granted it's still six weeks away, but it's hardly going to be one of those spontaneous 'wake up and see if you fancy it' sort of friendlies.

Who's going?

You ain't a beauty but, hey, you're alright.

Which market are you talking about?

At Gabriele-Tergit-Promenade you'll be a stones throw from Potsdamer Platz, the Sony Centre, and Mall of Berlin.

It's about 20mins by public transport to U Platz der Luftbrücke, which will get you to the old Tempelhof terminal. You'll want to go a stop further south on the U6 to Paradestraße to access Tempelhofer Feld itself.

From there it's fairly easy and about 40mins to get out to Köpenick - north to Friedrichstraße on the U6, and then out to Köpenick on the S3 towards Erkner or Friedrichshagen.

I read Markt, assumed it was a market type thing! Cheers for the tips. Bowie apartment looked walkable, though i did find another similar address that was well out of town? Bound to bump into fellow Blues enroute to ground.

If it helps, Union are playing Inter the week before. In their FB post it says tickets will be available mid July.

A friend was on a tour bus in Berlin. Someone remarked on the wide roads and nice open spaces. The tour guide " yes,for this we must thank your RAF"

For those who are still looking at flights, Norwich might now be a better option than Stansted.

Ryanair flights at reasonable times (ignoring the 6am departures at both ends) are now about the same price as travelling from Norwich via Amsterdam with KLM, with the added bonus of a smaller, quieter airport, inclusive cabin bags, and a much better all-around experience.

2. Bundesliga fixtures were released today. Hertha BSC are at home to Heidenheim that weekend, although the precise date/time has yet to be set.

Might be worth keeping an eye on if anyone fancies a bit of a double-header.

Hertha website now has their kick off as 12.30 on Sunday. Do any of the locals know if this is now confirmed? Would be great to tick off the Olympic Stadium while there.

It's still showing at just the weekend on the main news article. The calendar you've found shows all matches as generally being 1230hrs on the Sunday.

That's the tradition 2. Bundesliga kick-off time, but fixture scheduling tends to get announced in batches so, at the moment, I think only the opening fixture is set in stone, and the remainder of the first batch is still awaiting specific dates/times.

Nothing announced yet - I can't imagine it'll be anything other than general sale, given that we're likely to be given a 2,500-seat away end.

Bum.

That said, if you're the groundhopper type, you could probably take in the first half at Hertha, and then get the S3 direct from Olympiastadion to Köpenick, and get to Union in time for the 1530hrs kick-off.

The age-old question though.. does it count if you don’t watch the whole game rubbish. I’m now considering doing exactly this considering they’ve put it on the same day as ours.

It could be very tight time wise. It's a 50 minute journey from Olympiastadion to Köpenick. Plus, you need to get out wait for a train, there is the walk to the stadium the other end. Even if you managed to get the S9 from Olympiastadion, and change in Ostbahnhof to the S3, it's a 1 minute gap. I can pretty much, guarantee that the trains will not be running on time that day, with 2 games going on using the same line (I work for the S-Bahn).

Thanks Berlin, I've been a nervous about tickets having already booked flights for my son and I! I'm happy now I've actually got them
I went to Berlin last summer with the family and absolutely loved it, really looking forward to it..... Is there anything planned before or after the game as a group? Would be handy if there was a group set up to organise something.

Glad you got one.

I was worried too. I was half expecting them to send physical tickets and I'd have to get my brother to go get me one, and post it here.

A meet up would be great.

It's maybe worth pointing out that the process seems a little bit clunky in places.

The card payment option didn't work properly, so I paid using PayPal. What that method seems to do is create a credit on your account, meaning you then have to check-out again whilst using the credit as payment. You'll see on the second check-out screen that the sum owing has been reduced to €0.00.

I had no problem, but I'm using a German card. Paypal might be a better option, to save card fees too, on an international payment
