Linked again, reputable source.

Not made any impression on the Prem since his move, but there must be a quality player in there somewhere having come through the Barcelona academy where he was highly rated (although selling him for just £5m with a seemingly loose clause in his contract).

Just not sure he's what we need, with Emersonn a similar sort of young prospect surely we'd be looking for someone with experience.

I agree with Alex's view, not what Town will be looking at having signed an inexperienced 21-year-old. Callum Wilson was a target and we'll be looking for someone more in that mould experience-wise. It's just idle speculation based on the interest last year.

I briefly get excited when I see his name and think people are misspelling Guehi. One can dream.

I’m not so excited by this one. I agree we should be looking for more experience, but maybe as another prospect option IF we get a main senior striker then great. Which would mean Hirst’s time would be limited.

We do like going down the young player route though for future trading profit. I personally think that has to be limited, as you need the experienced good player to stay up which in itself inflates player values and is worth a lot more in £££.

I can't think of too many forwards that are both proven in the premier league and likely to join us. Jimenez and Wilson were 2 I thought we might sniff around.

Osula, while not particularly proven, has probably elevated himself beyond us now.

Awoniyi or Wood if Forest strengthen? Guess Glasner will take a view on them.

Nketiah would be great, not sure how realistic that would be but he was on the bench a lot for Palace last season IIRC.

Piroe from Leeds?

Feels like relatively slim pickings.

I would be surprised if Awoniyi and Wood aren't on our radar. Marinakis is constantly looking to upgrade his squad.

Altho Wiod is old and expensive, if we could get 25 games out of him could be a very shrewd deal.

Absolutely. He's always a handful and occupies defenders well. Would be a nice foil for Emersonn too, who's seemingly more about pace and running power.

Awoniyi, Wood, Enes Unal or Flemming... about as good as it gets I think.

Decent player, upgrade on Azon and Hirst. Would work well in the lone striker role, though II am not sure how valid that is under a new manager. I was disappointed we did not get him last year. I think we would be more attractive to him now, being 1, Premier League and 2 his career is stalling from lack of game time, he would be assured of higher levels at Town.

I really like the idea of Wood - he would be a great signing, wily player and knows where the net is. I think Flemming would be a good option too. Still only 27, scored some decent goals last season and can play a couple of roles.

Knows O'Shea well too. Dara lived with Wood's parents when he first moved over from Ireland as a 16 year old.

It could be shrewd. Vastly experienced in the premier league, big physical presence and a handful for defenders. Has scored plenty of goals at the level too. Could be the Strand-Larsen in O'Neil's system, with a couple of more creative attacking players off him. Lets hope Emersonn is our Cunha (but less of a knob).

There’s also no need to have him play more than 5-20 mins a game and act as a finisher most weeks - essentially how we used Moore etc.

I’d love us to sign him or someone similar.

One curveball we could look at is Keenan Davis who seems to have fallen through the floor at Udinese. Can do it in the prem is an absolute unit too.

Those kinds of strikers will be few and far between. May have to look to other big leagues abroad. Someone like Borja Iglesias at Celta or Florian Thauvin at Lens....

I would take Guiu if it were doable on player, club, valuation basis. He would retain /gain value if we didnt overpay and he is at the age of needing game time which we could easily offer in a three player rotation.

You may well be right. With someone like Wilson think we needed to tell them they're going to be the first-choice number nine, not one in rotation as he's likely to be at Brentford, which they may well have done, of course. Go all out to get that sort of player in as Emersonn's not going to be ready to be a regular starter from the off and it's unfair to ask him to be.

Potentially the value is in getting someone with a good amount of experience in another good top division but has not played in the PL. He's already gone to Fenerbahce but someone like Vedat Muriqi at Mallorca, for instance.

Indeed, but a few decent suggestions from other posters. It's not an easy ask but I think we need someone who has a Premier League track record.

I thought Raul Jimenez would have been a good signing for a season but signed for Wolves instead! Experienced at PL level and has scored goals.

Maybe town may have speculate to accumulate so to speak and sign someone not quite as old as wilson , but probably spend a bit and make them tge main man ?
Have you heard any juicy names you could tease us with phil 🤣🤣🤣

Most Premier League appearances by strikers we've been linked with over the past couple of seasons:

Callum Wilson (271 Games / 95 goals)
Patrick Bamford (102 Games / 24 goals)
Odsonne Édouard (100 Games / 18 goals)
Armando Broja (100 Games / 9 Goals)
Oli McBurnie (96 Games / 13 goals)
Lyle Foster (50 Games / 8 Goals)
Igor Jesus (37 Games / 6 Goals)
Sam Surridge (20 Games / 1 Goal)
Joël Piroe (16 Games / 0 Goals)
Marc Guiu (13 Games / 0 Goals)
Divin Mubama (9 Games / 0 Goals)

Clearly Callum Wilson was the pick of the bunch (and yeah, bit of time to kill before the footie this evening...)
