Anyone know how much we have to strengthen before we get into trouble?

Think we are ok for this coming season as we came straight back up. I don't know for sure, but we probably could get 5 or 6 quality players for around £20M (each) and be within our limits.

Poll: New hobby suggestions for NeedhamChris.

Someone better at maths than me reckoned maybe £100m headroom on the basis of our published accounts. That'd be split between wages and year one of fee amortisation. For context 10-15 players might cost you £30-50m in wages and £50m would potentially stretch very far in terms of headline fees (which divide by contract length for accounting purposes).

I suppose we have to factor in a fee for Philogene. And others. Or does that form part of another set of figures?

Philogene would be more on top (though we'd have to pay off the rest of his fee in this year's books, so any additional headroom would be less that £13m or so).

SCR will not be what limits our spending.

It will be more about prudence - we can’t risk too much in case we get relegated. We do have a lot of flexibility though, as our squad cost : revenue ratio has been keep low.

I would not be surprised if we spend an additional £70-120M

We also have to consider whoever we bring in now we will most likely require a couple of new additions in the January window and I would imagine that not all the players coming in now will be bought.
It is difficult to know how many come in as we don't know how many will depart, There has been speculation mainly surrounding Philogen and also mentioned that it may be possible Hirst goes. along with Taylor and McAteer.
Then of course you have Players like Al Hamadi,Szmodics and Humphries. Szmodics being the most likely to command the highest fee.
