Fatawu signed on loan for Leicester (and thus was registered there) at the start of the 2023-24 season. He only stopped qualifying as an U21 this summer. That's three seasons.
Enciso signed for Brighton in June 2022 and was there - or on loan at Ipswich - until September 2025. Three and a bit seasons. Likewise, he has only just stopped qualifying as U21. | |

I think Furlong and Mehmeti could be at risk. If we bring in a left back and a right back I can't see us keeping both Furlong and Johnson in the squad and I wonder if Johnson's PL experience nudges Furlong out.
With no material departures I think Mehmeti doesn't get into the CAM line-up - if we have 7 players for those 3 positions that will probably go to Fatawu, Maeda, Enciso, Walle Egeli, Clarke, Philogene, McAteer. If Philogene goes, that feels like the obvious place to replace with a young loan. | | | |

Personally I think Philogene is done here, just my opinion.
As for Furlong, I am in the clear minority here but I think he can do a solid job in the Premier League, yes it's a big step up but he was one of our most consistent stand out performers who was also clearly well versed in the dark arts, something which we will need in abundance. As I understand it it is about being actually u21 for three seasons and not qualifying as an u21. I had previously checked both but I've just double check (using AI here)

The PL rules seem a little vague on this - the section in brackets seems to contradict what comes immediately before:
"A "Home Grown Player" means a player who, irrespective of nationality or age, has been registered with any club affiliated to The Football Association or the Football Association of Wales for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons, or 36 months, before his 21st birthday (or the end of the season during which he turns 21)." https://www.premierleague.com/
The bit in brackets would include both Enciso (2022-25) and Fatawu (2023-26). But the strict birthday stipulation would not. | |

On that basis, I don't see how he qualifies.
