Very excited about this one. The pedigree of some of these players that come through the academies and ranks in France is unreal. Many with African heritage and play internationally for Morocco, Ivory Coast, Senegal etc. Usually translate well to the Premier League.
He's obviously already representing Ivory coast at U23 level..
Ouattara came through a year or 2 behind Diarra who Sunderland signed from Strasbourg last summer at 30M and had an incredible first year in the PL and would likely be worth a fair bit more already.
Obviously only 20 so needs to be giving time to adjust but I can't imagine the plan is Furlong for 38 games in the Premier League so let's hope he lock down the RB/RWB role for us in the coming months!
This is the kind of super high ceiling signing you want from abroad!

Based on absolutely nothing I think he will be out breakout star this season. Wouldn't surprise me to see him start as second choice to O'Shea (particularly if Greaves does well and/or we sign another LCB, and then push on to first choice RB over the second half of the season. |  | | |

I think the model is generally really coming together now. The average age of the squad at a glance feels quite low compared to where we have been in the past and we are prepared to invest in players with time and space to grow.
My concern is that some of these players enter there first season with us playing the highest standard of opposition so we may need to wait 2 years to really see what they are about. Pre season has definately shown me a bit about how players settle, mature and grow with egeli coming back looking very different and in a different way I think mehmeti and akpom both look better players with an Ipswich pre season behind them. Both of which could be good squad options.

Pre season has shown a lot of promise between maeda and leif, lukic also looked very comfortable at the weekend. I think on the whole Emerson can be applauded for how he has pressed and positioned himself for his various attacking partners as well. You say that but it's worked before, look at our opponents Saturday and their signings last summer:
Diarra; 22 years old (21 when he signed)
Sadiki; 21 years old (20 when he signed)
Talbi; 21 years old (20 when he signed)
All had basically played a season in France or Belgium topflight respectively and contributed heavily right away.
So, it can happen, I wouldn't necessarily see a project signing that won't feature much early. | |

Yep - Quattarra is the way to invest an 8-figure fee.
I'd love to see much more of it in the coming years and I am sure we will.

I think our model under KM was difficult for many to understand. Yes he got some results from people who bought into it, but others who had the ability didn't always comprehend the system. Football is a simple game and I think GON will get the best out of more players. We have a chance this time. |  | | |

Id argue that O'Neil plays a more basic brand of football rather than has an ability to gel a team better, for which you also have no evidence yet. | | | |
