Look Sunderland were good, gelled as a team with strong players and good shape. I was impressed. They would have beaten a lot of teams today.
They had patterns and relationships that we simply lack with the new group. But they will come, and in moments you saw it between our 10 and 9 and on the left side. We’ll get better, yet we secured 3 points.
But we had a lot of heart and some players who were really committed to the press - Lukic, Fatawu and Maeda especially. And in Enciso and Emerson that cutting edge we’ve lacked at this level.
Also the crowd finally really lifted after the second goal, and you felt a bond to the season forming and with the new players/manager. That’s crucial.
And for me we punished an error in the Premier League, we did that, not the opposition. And hats off of Jack Clarke - composed.
Ouatarra looks a find.
But Lukic, Diop and Enciso - that’s the level of player you need to survive.
