2 moments that stood out for me and showed me that we are much more prem ready this time, both in the 1st half:
1) edge of our box, Brobby went shoulder to shoulder with Diop and literally just bounced off him
2) Emersonn down the left jinking past/through two Sunderland defenders

We have some real athletic units in this team who can all control the ball. Even in the huddle ahead of kick off, I looked at them and thought that the team are much bigger than last time round.

And we are going to have clubs bidding £70M for Enciso at the end of the season

I'd rather he stayed here though and kept showing what £70m's worth of player can do :)

Most crucial moment for me was Leif's bloch early in first half. Had we gone one down early who knows what could have happened.

For me it was on about 75 mins.

McAteer gave the ball away cheaply.
Diop won it back almost immediately.
Then Lukic took his time and stayed cool to dribble into space for a safe clearance.

Absolutely loved that.

Leif loved that block and whipped up the crowd straight away.
Fatawu did the same when taking corners at the North Stand.

Emerson 's slightly shy fist pump was also a treat.
The connection between fans and new players and GON is building already.

Leif’s best defensive display that I have seen, in any of the 3 divisions I’ve seen him play.

I didn't see the first 30 mins of the second half, as I'm in Poland, and family came to visit. In what I did see of the match, I thought he was our best defender. I can't remember ever thinking that before, best player? Yes, but never best defender. Is it his time to come of age? He had a rough time of the last Premier League campaign (not that he was alone in that!), and I really felt for him. He didn't quite seem to be the same player last year, probably due to a knock of confidence.

I feel that Lukic is going to be the sort of player that gets barely noticed. In the right place, solid tackles, easy passes. Love it

Yes, we have pace in that front 4, technique and skill and athleticism. I'm confident that we'll always be in games on the counter even if we are having 30-40% possession and on the back foot.

The single biggest thing that summed up today was the winner.

Lukic wins the ball and plays in Clarke but look at Ouatarra. He tried to intercept the ball as well, nearly clattered into Lukic, but got out of the way.

So if Lukic wasn’t there, Ouattara wins the ball. 90th minute and both of them hunting to cut out the same ball.

Summed up the fight, intensity and athleticism perfectly.
