Hats off to Julio Encisco 09:33 - Aug 24 with 1198 viewsLion

He looked a far more complete player than when we had him on loan, when he tried to do everything by himself and seemed to be playing for himself. We don't win that game without him, he was almost unplayable, Sunderland could not deal with him, incredibly aware and unselfish to set up Emerson's goal that he obviously completely created by winning the ball as well with his closing down.He could have scored a hat-trick and an easy 9 out of ten performance

Jack Clarke i thought really pushed on last year, a typical and great finish from him .I cannot see a world in which we loan him out, surely. Maybe lacks the physicality to start week in and out but a fantastic ball carrier and what a player to bring off the bench once teams tire, a player who runs at you directly and not what you want to see after 75 minutes as an opposing defender.

Scherpen - 7.5 out of ten. One quite scary moment with the ball at his feet, good save from the header in the first half, the free kick was very good and not in the corner although went in off the bar, i think he will be slightly dissapointed he didnt save it although that may be a bit harsh. A fantastic accurate thrower though, ala Paul Cooper or Pat Jennings, you get the impression he could clear the whole pitch if he wanted too.

Jacob Greaves - 8 out of ten, did everything he had to do.

Diop, 7.5 out of ten. A fantastic premier league athlete, not a great 'baller and didnt have to make the foul he did for their goal, he'll get better though and as long as he wins his duels and gives the ball short he'll be fine and get better, maybe a little rustiness there.

O'Shea 7.5 - he did ok at right back, i know he can play there but not his best position, but he is prepared to do it for the team and he was solid.

Leif - 8.5 out of ten. A really mature performance, very defensively aware, lots of lung busting runs and 2 or 3 amazing blocks.

Lukic - 8 out of ten, i loved him, oozed composure and class. They said he ran out of steam a little later in the 2nd half on Radio Suffolk after the game, he tried a couple of raking passes that didnt come off but I thought he looked a fantastic purchase.

Nunez - 8-8.5 out of ten. I was surprised to see him start, obviously Luis still injured, but a mature and composed performance, defensively very aware, pretty much played as the cdm, he really is versatile player comfortable in any of the midfield positions, he was solid.

Fatawu - would have been a 7/ 7.5 if it wasnt for the second half when O Neil had obviously got stuck into him at half time. He had a new lease of life 2nd half and started to take his defender on and get to the byline at will, 8/10, he will be a real asset

Maeda - worked his socks off, fantastic movement and could have scored if the ball didnt fall just behind him in the move of the match from Emersons nod back into the box, also would have scored if Emerson hadnt met Enciscos pull back with a blistering run, 7.5 out of ten, he will have more profitable days for sure.

Emerson - I loved the run first half over the left side wing where he left three defenders in his wake, maybe O Neil has downplayed just how good he is, a very promising debut, can only help hugely he got on the score sheet, 8 out of ten, he has a very high ceiling.

All the subs were comfortably 7-7.5 out of ten and we didn't look weaker for having them on, a special mention for Akpom who i havent really seen in that role before, he doesnt have blinding pace or movement but he was fighting hard to win the ball in the air and hold the ball up.

As for Wor Jacky......fack it, I'll give him a ten

I loved that he looked straight at the near post gap as if to shoot and then played a perfect pass to Emersonn, their keeper and defenders all bought the dummy totally, brilliant stuff.

I was also well impressed with Nunez watching the Sky full match highlights, he was everywhere. Should be a starter based on that performance.

Big chance for Nunez to play in the PL. It looks like he is going to grasp it with both hands.

Has the technical ability, I'd worry with his lack of pace especially away from home but could be an important player for us this season. If we do sign Palacios I wonder where he finds himself in the pecking order though.

Palacios has never played more than 21 games in a season and would be playing in the prem for the first time. Would be an excellent signing but I don’t see him playing every week, so I think Nunez will definitely be needed. Having 4-5 top class CM options would be an incredible change from last time we were up, and I think that season showed why we need that amount of depth and quality.

Enciso was only 20 when he joined us the last time but it was clear he had an awful lot of talent.
