| Tonight was an audition for our fringe players 22:36 - Aug 25 with 3600 views | Garv | Who passed? i.e who would you be comfortable with playing a string of league games? Walton? Yes Furlong? Not for me O'Shea? N/A (yes) Kipre? Maybe Outattara? Yes Humphreys? No Nunez? Yes Clarke? Yes Walle-Egeli? Sorry, no. McAteer? Sorry, no. Akpom? No. So a good old mixture. Those last three I would still replace if we could, I just don't think they're a combination of smart enough, good enough or physical enough to really have an impact in the Premier League. Obviously can't see all three going though. The main argument against is Walle and the fact he does pop up with the odd goal. Sorry to be negative after a good night. [Post edited 25 Aug 23:07]

Clarke has already proved to be a good squad player and contrary to other opinions, I still rate Egeli - but am in the minority. Biggest worries: Akpom proved again that he can’t score goals. We are in trouble unless we sign a striker. His one on one chance was an awful finish. Kipre looked way off PL quality.

McAteer is miles off prem standard, i really won't attempt to show Leicester what they're missing, but instead he showed the exactly why they sold him hope this Nottingham Forest right winger means he is going. I do think we need another versatile l full back Outarra Side potential but iis very raw.
| Tonight was an audition for our fringe players on 08:23 - Aug 26 with 401 views | greyhound | My worry is that more of these are a no than we may appreciate. I feel that we are so systematically used to championship quality it blinds us from the reality of what is needed to establish as a premier league team. I would keep SWE through virtue of him being u21 and think he has a part to play. Outarra is going to be a work in progress. But I fear some of this list is 1 injury away from prem regularity and will seriously weaken us. | | | |

Which is to be expected. Gonna need luck, especially on the injury front, as well as talent to stay up.

| Tonight was an audition for our fringe players on 07:45 - Aug 26 by ThatMuhrenCross | How times have changed that this is our “fringe” squad! Walton? £1m Furlong? £4m O'Shea? £15m Kipre? £4m Outattara? £16m Humphreys? Free Nunez? £8m Clarke? £15m Walle-Egeli? £18m McAteer? £10m Akpom? £7m A fringe team that cost £98 million!!!! |
O'Shea should be removed from the equation as he's not part of the fringe squad. So £83m?

Clarke is also one of those players who starts quickly from the bench. Not every player can do that. The youth players who played have been missed out of any discussion, but here is probably better than starting a new thread. I was hugely impressed with Tudor Mendel. Energetic, committed, combative. If anybody who has a subscription to a football stats site could tell us his tackles, win rate etc as against the senior players who played, I would be very interested.

I agree, Mendel looks very promising.

You're possible a bit generous if anything. Outattara didn't look great on the TV last night, but he obviously needs to come up to speed. We've got to stick with SWE as a serious development prospect but the more I see of him in competitive games the more I think he'd be better out on loan. Kipre no for me

| Tonight was an audition for our fringe players on 00:23 - Aug 26 by Garv | To be honest I think you're being generous. Scored a goal he should be scoring, he was in absolute acres. 'Big' part in the second goal, really? I'll admit I saw nothing of pre season, but pre season means very little. Not sure what he added on Saturday either, not that he did anything wrong. Just don't see it yet. |
Egeli won the ball, held it under a lot of pressure then played a lovely reverse pass to Akpom from a tight space, Akpom then knocked it back tucNunez who scored. For me, I'd agree that SWE played a big part, a very big part in that goal.

| Tonight was an audition for our fringe players on 22:54 - Aug 25 by Nutkins_Return | My Yes list would be: Egeli Ouattara (but not convinced as LB) O'shea Akpom (nearly....He played well tonight's big part in two goals. His finishing was a no.If he had put one away it would have been a clear yes). *Edit: adding Nunez Wasn't a good performance but got us through. [Post edited 26 Aug 10:06]

Agree I like his all round play until he shoots at goal.

You probably need to take a wider view on SWE. He's going to be very, very good, and quite soon.

You are quite right. Just missed him off.
