Surprised we've not been linked with him. In fact, surprised he's still at Swansea full-stop. Hull had a £10m bid turned down a couple of weeks back, but that's about it.

At just 24 years old, his scoring record is phenomenal and would have thought he'd have made more than adequate back-up to Emersonn...

Unlikely… This would follow a similar strategy to last time out in the prem and that didn’t really work out. He’s decent but I wouldn’t spend 15-20m on him. That’s how much he would cost. We’ve already signed Emersonn and clearly are looking for a more experienced CF to help the team out. Jimenez and Wilson targeted this summer already.

Well to be fair, the £15m striker we snapped up from the Championship last time around actually turned out to be one of our success stories...

I'm not saying we pin our hopes on him, but would be a good physical option as back-up.

Akpom, Szmodics, Piroe - all Championship top scorers and all plainly not Premier League standard. Viptnik falls into the same category for me.

We aren't looking for a backup though. We are looking for someone that can make Emersonn a backup.

He wasn’t a 15 m Championship striker though was he!!! Played for City. Merely borrowed out.

Exactly this ... unfortunately, the trend has shown even the best take years to truly make the jump. Eze, Wharton, Konsa all took years to become good PL performers.

I suspect even Hackney will take a good season to get up to speed.

Us, Hull, Cov etc need immediate performers and ideally re-sale value.

Only one season of 'phenomenal' scoring at senior level, and not in a top division. So very much unproven, and too much of a risk. Depends on who we end up signing, but imo we need someone with more experience playing against the best.

Why would we get rid of Hirst and Szmodics and bring in an inferior player?

Clearly he's not rubbish... you don't score 23 goals in a struggling side if you're no good.

From seeing our transfer window this time round and the ambitious signings we have made, our level of player is just higher this time round. Personally think Flemming would be a better option.

We’re not looking for back up for Emersonn.

We’re looking for a CF that would be more likely be ahead of Emersonn, as good as he was in his debut for us.

Emersonn cost us £24m... how much do you suppose this better Premier League striker would cost us??

Signing a Championship Golden Boot winner every summer hasn't been overly successful thus far...

The general consensus is his numbers are bad and he won’t do it again. Which is why absolutely no one in interested in him.

Who knows but you can’t rely on a kid and Akpom for a whole season. Why spend decent money to get the rest of the team up to speed and then neglect the strikers. Udesa from Feyernoord would be my choice, but that’s all gone quiet. We need someone though to help out.

My extended family are all Swans and they are delighted he's still around!

By all accounts he's a very talented striker, a real fox in the box, doesn't offer much at all to the build up though. His finishing is his real strength, but he is lethal. Quite similar to Gyokeres, only comes alive in the box but makes it worth the wait when he does.

Absolutely not Premier League standard, but don't be surprised to see him score freely in a Swansea shirt again this year if he doesn't get snapped up.

He’s clearly not rubbish, but he has got some limitations. He benefited from Swansea’s high possession rate and slow play last year, a bit of an edge of the box hanger (as opposed to goal hanger). He’s not particularly quick and is Championship level in the air, which will both hold him back. Hell of a shot on him though. His positioning 2 seasons ago was awful and he’s worked on that, so there probably is more to come from him. That lack of pace and in-air limitations are real issues that are going to hold him back.

IMO of course, but I’ve been proven wrong on him before. I thought Swansea should have ditched him at any price last summer and it looked like they were trying to until his replacement got injured straight away.

£25m they want don’t they!

We’ve just paid that for Enciso, who is a different player but talent wise a different level.

Think we’ve learnt lessons about falling for inflationary traps domestically.
