I think anyone who mentions the £20M profit that Chelsea might well make on Delap are looking at it wrongly.
Due to the relegation release clause in his contract, the fee Chelsea paid us for Liam Delap was artificially cheap. No clause, and he would’ve gone for £50M minimum.
The fee Forest are reported to have agreed with Chelsea, through a tad excessive is still almost bang on the money in today’s market. [Post edited 27 Aug 7:31]

What they paid at the time was a low buyout clause though, we all know we got shafted on Delap. So it's not necessarily that he's gone up by £20m. We did just pay £24m for a basically unproven Emersonn. | | | |
