It's entirely the BBC's blame not Lampard. If anything it's the BBC's chief editor's fault for letting the article run with such a misleading title.
If you read the article he basically says he is proud to worked under those two managers and he has tried to take a bit of their contrasting styles into his own style as a manager; a mix between hands on and hands off at times.
He does not compare himself to their levels he simply shows his admiration for what Mourinho and Ancelotti did for him.

Maybe it's just a Chelsea thing. Not really keen on any of their players from the past and they seem since Abramovich left to be a badly run club with a scatter gun approach to buying players.
I always felt with Lampard because he achieved what he did that he had an entitlement to a certain status.
