Feel real grubby promo’ing this, but came across a thread on the Budgies forum about who warrants the honour of becoming their first club legend immortalised in bronze outside Carrot Rd. Absolutely piss your pants funny, tinpot waffle. Self awareness nil. Spoiler alert: Steve Bruce gets most votes, for scoring a semi final goal against us. lol.

I can see the logic.

His face must be about the easiest thing to sculpt. Assuming you have got some plasticine and a mallet.

I saw that. P£ss funny. Somebody mocked up one of Delia doing her famous drunken rant. Against some of the other suggestions that looks about the best.

Holt, Dave Stringer, Goss (sorer of the winner in the greatest result any English club ever had anywhere since the Ice Age), Bruce ….thin pickings, but as has been suggested, at least the sculpting is easy. For any of that ugly bunch slap a lump of clay on an old manakin and it’s job done.

It’s a very funny thread.

Dean Ashton is in their Hall Of 'Fame' after 44 appearances.

Not even one whole season.....

They should do a statue of Chisholm, after all, his own goal for Sunderland resulted in a League Cup win, they best every achievement.*

*Had to look it up as I was surprised the scorer wasn't mentioned!

Chris Sutton would be the easiest. One straight large pole with a tiny ball either side. .I.

Who can they even realistically consider legends? Gunn is surely the only one and thats more about longevity than anything else, I'd give him a statue for the air kick alone.

Other than that, what are their options? Holt? Wes Hollahan? Mike Walker? Pukki? Farke?

Doesnt compare does it

Ramsey
Robson
Wark
Mariner
Beattie
Burley
Butcher
Brazil
Mills
Mckenna

Gunn gets his statue for his management of them too.

Plus he is actually a decent guy.

I would imagine Martin Peters and Jan Molby must stand a good chance for them too. I have heard some of theirs rave about Fleck too. Craig Bellamy was one of theirs who did fairly well for them.

If you took stats and/or honours for any of their players or managers (whilst at the respective clubs) they don't make our top 100 do they (except perhaps club appearances or club goals alone)?

Whoever they decide on, better get whoever the "artist" was that did the Sir Bobby statue outside Newcastle's ground (hands in pockets) so they won't have to depict that embarrassingly obvious affliction

I reckon they should get the sculptor who did that really weird one of Michael Jackson that used to be outside Craven Cottage ... the one with the freakishly long arm

I must admit i thought they would have gone for Jeremy Goss as he did score the goal that won Norwich the world cup. It does make me laugh how they go on about that goal even though we have won the competition and have many winning goalscorers to choose from over many years in the Uefa Cup.

Have they really not got any better candidates than that lumbering donkey that is Steve bleedin' Bruce!!!? That's pitiful.

What about the guy who lit the match that burned the stand down?

That's been ruled out on account of the risk of Terry Butcher knocking it over.

"What about Walker, would he deserve a statue for our best ever league position?"

That thread is comedy gold. 😂

Errr, nope.

The mush that fired the stand? Just do a little sculpture of a box of Swan Vestas.
