GON has confirmed he’ll feature at Old Trafford.
Like you I’d be tempted to hold him back, get a full week of training into him. Launch him in a starting role against Liverpool in what will be a febrile atmosphere.
But it looks like he’s had a full day on the grass with the team, he ended the Bundesliga campaign with a string of appearances then the World Cup - which is a lot of training - so is fit.
And he’s our marquee player so can understand why O’Neil wants him in from the start.. And he’ll want to show what he can do on the Premier League stage - and venues and occasions don’t get much bigger than Old Trafford.
I assume he’ll come in as a sub - to replace the starting pair of Lukic and Florentino?? |  |

You are probably right, but I kind of felt that GO'N was being a little mischievous in how he said "you will SEE him on Sunday", as opposed to confirming that Palacios will actually get minutes of play. I may well be reading too much into his tone & a deliberateness of his wording of course.

Just a point of view: Okay, my world is rugby. But when you are coaching at the top level it doesn't take much for players to gel. They are top players for a reason. You lay it out and most have functioned in adaptions of the plan before. If they haven't they grasp it very quickly because. They are top players for a reason.
When we had tranche 1 demolition under cook we had lower league/average players. Those players take far longer to adapt to new tactics; set-ups unfamiliar to what they have done before, especially when those tactics test their capabilities which appeared evident to me last year where things seemed to be over complicated by the players at times.
I know it hasn't been said as such, but the time it took a bunch of league 1/championship players to gel is vastly different to a team of experienced top level players. | | | |
