A hell of a lot of positives to take out of the first half, then a disorganised and disappointing second half.
The gaps in front of a too keen to retreat back 4 / 5 in the second half were painful to see, but we'll get that right with the quality and experience we've got available now.
It's a very understandable (given the number of changes) lack of team organisation that's a problem for us at times at the moment.
United were so lucky to get about three of the goals they did get, but once they had them, and we fell apart, they probably should have had a few more.
Overall, seeing what we've got and what I think we'll become, I'm still pretty positive even after that. |  |

I agree there was a lack of cohesion and players just finding each other.
We really needed after the 3rd to compact the centre of the park. If we had fit midfielders moving to a 3 in CM would helped tighten things up.
Got to be positive and take the lesson and learn from it. Any drop in performance at this level ends in that scoreline. |  | | |

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I wonder if we should have brought Palacios on for Emmerson at half time, with Enciso moving up front and trying to play the ball behind Maguire and Martinez. Tested their pace rather than their aerial ability. |  |

Yeah, I think a change to 3 CMs would have been good, but even then the defence were dropping off too soon (think we did that against Sunlun too, if I remember correctly) and a big gap between a 4 and a 3 would be as bad as a big gap between a 4 and a 2.
Someone to tie it together vertically (to use a modern w@nkword) is what we need, I think. Presumably that will come, given the quality we have available to pick from now. It's communication, familiarity and co-ordination I think. | |
