Hope that gives him more confidence going forward.

Frankly I was expecting him to miss. His control and hold up play were poor. We really need to bring in another CF by Tuesday. ...yes obvious, but it is needed.

Without an out and out striker it is going to be tough.

We have been saying this for 3 seasons mind.

I’m pleased for him too, but I still think we need a Delap (or similar). A mobile, good forward who can cause real problems up top with Enciso and has the quality to take difficult chances.

I’m pleased he scored … but if Emersonn is out for a while … we need two top strikers. We can’t rely on Akpom.

Not an easy job but thought hit was poor compared to what we saw from Emersonn

Are the downvotes saying he looked better than Emersonn? I’m confused.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

At this stage he would be an improvement, at least he can run about a bit.

The "hit" went in is what mattered. It didn't need to be fancy.

How bad is Emersonn injury?

We obviously do have goals from all around the squad in us tho, cf Leif’s magnificent one today.

I don't know, but he did have a torn cruciate ligament injury in October 2022 which caused him to miss half a season. I hope it's not that again, for the sake of the player as much as anything else.

I’m not talking about a tap in from the 6 yard box if that’s why you’re confused.

Akpom was poor when he came on and Emersonn has been really encouraging so far. Big drop off second half.

I’m really not sure what that goal 5-1 down changes anything for Akpom, the credit for it goes to Enciso.

You wouldn't have made those comments about Chappers had it been him who scored.

Akpom put himself in the right place at the right time. I can think of plenty of missed chances where players haven't done that - "no-one there to turn it in" say commentators with monotonous regularity.

Some fans having a go at him when he doesn't score; now some fans having a go at him or dismissing it when he does. Very poor by some fans.

I really have no idea what you’re talking about? My point was we were a lot worse with Akpom on the pitch than Emersonn and a tap in at 5-1 doesn’t change that.

And I really have no idea what you're talking about.
It changes the goal difference, makes for a less disheartening final score, and as I implied, I hope it opens the floodgates for Akpom & gives him more confidence to go on and prove negitive people like you horribly wrong.

Just get behind the guy if you're a Town "supporter" and know anything about football. Endless criticism & undermining him when he does score isn't going to improve him is it, and we may well need him now.

I said we lost a lot when he was on the pitch compared to Emersonn not sure how that’s controversial or not knowing about football when anyone with eyes watching would agree with that statement.

Definition of happy clapping. We quite clearly need better.

And still you refuse to acknowledge the fact that he was in the right place at the right time & therefore scored (fantastic assist of course, but CA still had to be there, which historically many players haven't been, including class players at other clubs),

I’m much more concerned about his hold up play, ball retention and not allowing opposition center backs to press so high up the pitch than scoring an injury time tap in at 5-1 down. Emersonn I thought was significantly better at that in both games compared to what I’ve seen from Akpom in terms of giving the CBs something to think about.

What does Chaplin have to do with anything by the way? That was such a weird comment.

We have to take more reasoned views of players as fans given players have the capacity to have off days, maintain poor form over a period of time, and also develop into improved players.

However Akpom has neither proven clinical in key moments that count nor shown he can be a back to goal striker able to hold the ball and help us get up the pitch at somewhere like OT. He has fine athletic attributes for a third striker but he isnt showing the development curve we need to see to have the hope he is the answer. Admittedly he is looking marginally more like a consistent goal scorer this compared to last when he was in the 10 position.

I think you've not seen your own typo which is why you've confused each other. You said HIT was poor, when I think you meant "it" (as in Akpom's overall performance, not the strike).

And yeah, I'd agree. I didn't notice him apart from that.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.
