Decieved the officials and wasn't honest about it.

As per previous FA rulings this football season he must surely be banned for 2 games to restore footballing justice everywhere.

Obviously won't happen but food for thought for our beloved FA

But he didn't deceive the officials as they noticed it, decided it was accidental, and he himself has said it was accidental.

These takes are getting slightly tiring now. It glosses over the issues away at hand (no pun intended), which is our collapse in the second half.

We can be forgiven, it’s early in the season and people are still excited/optimistic. Manchester United had better quality players, along with some luck. We were well beaten and collapsed in the end. We had nothing to bring on to really improve our chances once we were under it.

It’s going to be a long season, we still have 3 points more than some of our relegation rivals and that’s a good thing, even early on. Hull however are looking well set up for staying up, which is my only concern at this stage.

No, really. Maguire said it was accidental. Well must be the gospel then.

I bet when the Heggebo too he just laughed at them and said "Yes I cheated and deceived you all and there is nothing you can do about it".

The replays the VAR was watching DID NOT include the two seconds beforehand where he handled the ball (with BOTH hands) - the entire error is there, as it was plain to see, if the whole sequence was observed. Typical PGMOL bias at Old Trafford.

It was always going to be a long season. We’ve recruited reasonably well (Enciso is key), but we’ve still got at least half a squad who are borderline good enough if we want to establish ourselves. People need to remember that and realise every point will have to be a point hard won.

Sunderland were poor last week which may have set a bit of a false expectation, but today is a good sense check on what teams towards the top end of the table are like. If we can pick up enough points from the lesser teams hopefully we can ignore results against Utd, City and Arsenal and the like.

Can't happen when VAR had the luxury of 30 replays and apparently followed the rules.

All three points under "following an accidental handball by an attacker:" are a farce.

Whether accidental or not (which will in many cases be difficult to prove, but that's another issue!) if an attacker benefits from a handball, and he (or the attacking team) gets a shot away that results in a goal (however the ball ends in the goal), it will have only come about from the UNFAIR ADVANTAGE of the handball

Whoever thought up those 3 points & whoever then passed those 3 points & enforced them into that law, needs to be removed from their position & that law changed

That was the rule pre-2021. Ie any handball in lead-up means no goal. It was changed to benefit attackers and permit more goals. I don't like it bc there's only one person who knows whether handball is deliberate or accidental, and that's the attacker who handles it. Today's was hand to ball, but hands weren't wide of his body. I think it was deliberate, but ultimately, only Maguire knows, and he's hardly going to admit it. Rule leaves massive grey area, and is ripe for corruption and big-club bias.

The three points all mitigate against the decision made wit unbiased officials though.

The goal came directly from it. The rules say very clearly that should be disallowed.

That's before you get into "natural position", which they clearly weren't in.

Same old corruption.

The key is whether the panel watches it back and decides it was deliberate, as they did the Bristol City player. As VAR intervened, probably not but I'll apologise to the OP for my previous reply.

No need to apologise!

Also, now a lot more calmed down, I can agree that is tiring after a game for the majority of focus seemingly to be around a single ref decision.

GON response very wise. Still think it's blatant handball, but just have to accept the decision and move on and do/ react better next time.

Fatawu and Enciso looked on it again and the pace / combinations Lief Maeda have after 2 games looks great. Hope Emersonn is okay and noticed Palacios nearly played 2 through balls similar to United's third goal.
