I was mulling this over as I drove home, does the VAR ruling that the handball isn’t given if it wasn’t done by the scorer/the handball player’s shot wasn’t going on target etc mean that Thierry Henry’s handball then assist for Gallas against Ireland back in 2009 wouldn’t have been ruled out had they had had VAR and used these rules?
Funny if so because I feel like that blatant act was one of the things people used to point to as ‘this is the kind of thing VAR will fix’.
Fairly philosophical about it personally but seems a very hard rule to interpret. |  | | |  |

It is left too subjective. But that doesn't excuse the blatantly biased approach taken. Goal came directly from the handball. Its not difficult. | |

I assume what it does mean is that every player can jump into blocks and use their hands (as well as their chest /head) to control a ball in the way that maguire did. As long as your hands are I. Front of your body. I look forward to this being consistently applied. Also means that the scorer against Norwich the other day was not unsportsmanlike as his was accidental as well. |  | | |

Ignore the rule about the goal which is absurd. Focus is on the fact it was an intentional handball and not given by the ref because it was a red shirt. | |

I can guarantee absofeckinlutely that had it been Manure or one of the other ‘big’ clubs on the receiving end of the handball, VAR would have intervened and none of us would have been none the wiser of the bloody daft rule. |  |
