| That first half was a fantastic watch. 10:45 - Aug 31 with 1051 views | Wheres_Burns | Just some observations from me. We were full of endeavour and attacking intent. We were still probably far too open and you could easily predict how United were going to approach the start of the second period. The collapse of any structure in the second was alarming and for me highlighted the lack of a real experienced organisational leader in the back line. The need for a calm, clear head to get back to basics was evident. In adversity I think Greaves has a tendency to lose his head a little and cause a bit of panic. Maybe we also missed the tenacity of Azor in the middle to break up play a little? Anyway, i liked the assessment from GON and hopefully we can build on the many positives this game offered up. | | | | |

We really lacked the right personnel to cope with exactly the situation that panned out after the second goal. As long as we get him and Azor fit we should be ok for options in there. I too am a little concerned about the defence even though individually they all have good attributes.

I said this before the match yesterday. We were lucky to fet away with it v Sunderland. But it was clear yesterday and Tuesdays nunez cant be the second DCM. He must have a free role.

You’re absolutely correct and i had already forgotten all about Luis! Maybe we just need one more commanding centre half which gives us the flexibility to move Greaves over to left in some scenarios.

Azor would tie things up solidly in the middle as well... Its almost as if people have forgotten about him.

Which two do you drop out of Lukic, Palacios and Nunez (our best player so far this season) to accommodate him and/or Matusiwa? We're overloaded in one position and threadbare in others (full-back, striker) [Post edited 31 Aug 11:39]

| That first half was a fantastic watch. on 12:18 - Aug 31 with 672 views | Vic | I thought we were fantastic in the first half - better than anything we produced all season last time we were in the Prem. I didn't see the 2nd half and was really disappointed to look at my phone at full time and see the score. I'm not sure about the lack of an organisational leader. O'Shea has developed into a really good captain, but he can't do the midfields work for them. We need Luis and/or MatySewer fir asap and I'm confident they'd get us tighter in MF. But having not seen the half I can't really comment more - apart from think that we need to give this new 'group' a few games to see how they settle in with each other and with GON. No need for panic stations after one heavyish defeat. (Not saying you're panicking btw!) | |

Barking orders, telling people where to be, he was marshaling it brilliantly. I don't think it helped yesterday - and this has happened so many times in recent years - that our midfield disappeared completely so our defence had no protection.

Completely lost it in the second half. A combination of Man U really stepping up, Bruno Fernandes showing why he's world class and the best player in the league and some pretty bad defending. It could have been more if not for Schepen. Plus an extremely dodgy second goal from them and a few unlucky deflections. Need to figure out how to replicate that first half performance. Palacios should help gain control of the midfield.
