Is this your first time experiencing our fascination with former players?

Both would have been good.

Delap would have been great here.

I know nothing about Flemming, so can't judge one way or the other, but I certainly think we could have done with a Delap-like centre forward in the second half yesterday to attempt to hold up the ball and take the pressure off the team.

The only player who managed to do something similar yesterday in the second half was Enciso.

My only issue with that is that Delap didnt actually do that very well after Xmas the season we were in the Prem. IIRC we ended up with Hirst playing several games and lots of people said he did a better job at holding the ball up than LD.

People don't just see goals, they see potential. There is a reason Forest paid £50m for Delap, while Flemming is rumoured to be going for £10-15m.

People have seen Delap, so they are aware of what he can do beyond the goals.

Burnley where relegated. How many relegated Burnley players are there that other teams don't want but we do. Would be our third relegated Burnley player (O'Shea and Florentino)

Flemming is seems more of a back up to Emersonn, rather than the striker that Emersonn is back up to. Ueda and Abraham both have primary striker vibes. Some people, think Delap does too.

I say that as someone not keen on Delap returning. If Flemming is the best we can get and we survive, I can see us going big for a striker next summer and Flemming being our third choice. I think Flemming is an upgrade on Akpom. I don't hate it, but Flemming has the feeling of failing to land a first choice striker.

The whole team didn't do very well after the Chelsea game, and we only went on to win one more game. The impression I got was the teams we played the first time had figured us out by the time of the second game.

And let's not forget that Hutchinson had only two assists all season.

Exactly, Delap was hardly a team player second half of the season.

I think he could be a good player but hasn’t improved in the last season and we really don’t have this season to get the best out of him. He should have gone to Forest when he left us but was thinking more about his bank balance than career development. Can’t blame him but Chelsea is not a club to develop players.

Fleming is exactly the sort of player we need. Abraham hasn’t played much recently but would still be a decent option.

Yeah and look where Hirst and Delap are now.

Fresh faces are more exciting, Delap is head and shoulders a better player than Flemming.

12 is more than 11 tbf.

Of course it makes sense. Anybody can see Delap has a much higher potential and ceiling so it's not exactly surprising some would much prefer Delap. There is a reason Delap has had £95 mil worth of fees.

I'm happy if we get Flemming. The reality is we have to get a striker in. I think he is a bit down our pecking order but doesn't mean it won't work out well. We've been bold and ambitious this window which has let to some real quality. Flemming will tick some boxes and help us.

And Delap was 21 years old in his first prem. I can't remember and easier case of being able to make it make sense.
