They are a team which we have a very poor record against although I take delight in saying I was at Anfield when Stewart scored and we beat them. But equally I was at PR when we lost 5-0.
My head tells me it's a heavy defeat likely 3 or 4 to 1 but my heart hopes for a 2-2 draw.
Barcola and Munoz likely to cause issues down the lines and Isak always seems to score against us. Hoping for a Flemming goal for us to get him off the mark.
If we do lose I hope it's not another heavy defeat with two tricky away games next up. |  |

If we sit in and go very deep, they’ll wear us down eventually - when not if they score, once they score could be 3 or 4.
So got to get the balance right, breaking on them and the strong press upfield, get at their defence, create chances. Unsettle them.
Need to get a really horrible atmosphere going. |
The balance of that first half at OT will do us nicely..

I’m expecting a Town defeat, we are after all a completely new team despite the fact that man for man we’re a significant improvement on 2024.
I was expecting a fair amount of bed-wetting based on unrealistic expectations from some of our fans, but every comment in this thread to date fills me with hope that we may be more prepared as fans for this year as well as as a team.

I honestly don't know but that's what I'm looking forward to. It could be defeat which wouldn't be a disgrace in itself, although I'm hoping it doesn't end up being a heavy one. Or it could be one of the best nights I've ever had at Portman Road, with victory feeling more feasible than it did in games like this a couple of seasons ago.

The problem is that £200 million represents the value of 2 or 3 players to the top 6 sides, so in that context, the amount of money that we've spent is somewhat immaterial. At this stage of the season, with 13 new players getting used to playing together, I'm looking for improvement and signs that we can be competitive in this league. Of course, I'd be over the moon if we should pick up a point or more against Liverpool, but we should be realistic, they are still one of the best teams in the league ( and have spent far more than £200 million on their squad). | | | |
